Did bird for forging banknotes I believe. I think Arsenal’s Peter Storey spent time in the big house for similar. Edited January 14, 20197 yr by Ewell CFC
January 14, 20197 yr Author Archie Gemmill and John Robertson who had both been part of the Forest success from 1977/78 - 1979/80 played for Derby that day. Peter Taylor, assistant to Brian Clough at Forest was the Derby manager that day. Both Taylor and Gemmill had been at Derby before, in the early 1970s.
January 14, 20197 yr Have another picture from the game in my photo album on my iPhone but won’t let me upload. Anyone know why?

Marking up the papers and doing a paper round after meant I could visit quite regular with birthday and Xmas!! Thankfully it was only 2.00£ U16s and 20p to transfer to the benches! The thousands of us teenage lads that would spend our paper round money on Pringle or Lyle and Scott jumpers, my mum use to say "you get up at 6am 7 days a week and buy a jumper with it!!!"
January 14, 20197 yr I picked this up from a car boot sale for a fiver. Little bit small for me alas. Proper lambswool, much heavier an more durable than all this merino sh*te.
January 14, 20197 yr It was great for a while when Pringle had a deal with Chelsea. I bought 2 of them, a grey jumper and blue one. The Chelsea badge was small on the sleeve i think, not to in your face so was a nice thing to wear.

January 15, 20197 yr Author Think about it. A Pringle jumper cost 15 times what it cost to watch Chelsea ! And how many of us saved and worked for the Pringle jumper !!
January 15, 20197 yr Slazenger jumpers were the starter model. Remember Tony Jacklin playing in a tournament on telly ( circa 81)with a pink and white diamond Pringle which looked the nuts. My mum walked in the room and said “ what a horrible jumper that mans wearing.” I had to put her right! I used to like the half diamond numbers as well. Ps Wonder what happened to dear old Ronnie Corbett Lyle and Scott knitwear collection when he expired? Bit small for anyone else.
January 18, 20197 yr Author https://thesefootballtimes.co/2019/01/18/john-neal-the-forgotten-hero-who-saved-chelsea-fc/ John Neal: the forgotten hero who saved Chelsea Football Club Forgotten hero ? My ar$e... Not forgotten in these parts. John Neal's Blue and White Army !
January 18, 20197 yr Author 'There’s a great joy in the hearts of Chelsea fans of a certain vintage who recall with fondness the times when Neal’s team jumped into the First Division with both feet, causing an enormous splash and harrying the established powers as a young, vibrant and entertaining team laid about them with hardly a care. Dixon and Speedie terrorised defences and Chelsea seemed set for a glorious future. Such joy is also tinged with regret at what might have been.' Not a bad summing up actually .

January 21, 20197 yr Author Our next game is Huddersfield Town at The Bridge on Saturday, 4th February 1984 at 15:00. Edited January 21, 20197 yr by erskblue
January 24, 20197 yr Author Just checked some other teams fixtures for 28th Jan 1984 and nobody seems to have played that Saturday. I think most top flight games were postponed due to snow. So that's probably the reason we didn't play again until Saturday 4th February 1984.
January 28, 20197 yr Author Just checked again and the reason we had no game on Saturday 28th January 1984. It was the FA Cup 4th Round day and we'd been knocked out by Middlesboro. Next up is Huddersfield Town at The Bridge on Saturday 4th February at 15:00. Still top of Division 2 !
