Great game to watch, quality and effective attacking play...

BUT Kaka, what a genuinely world-class player he is. Showed up Ronaldo on his home turf. His second goal looks scrappy but on the close-up view you can see that he has control of the ball at every single moment and the final scene where Evra just runs into Heinze is something out of comedy.

fantastic game but milan are hardly a one man side. I though united were lucky that gattuso went off- I'm not a huge fan but there's no denying his importance to milan. and add maldini to that. both sides were great to watch- milan I prefer- short passing, control of tempo (despite a fairly poor game from pirlo, who I love), overlapping fullbacks. I hope pippo features at some point in milan, he won't run as much as gilardino but he'll surely be needed there. good to see rooney get a couple he's 21, has about 20 goals this season, plus assists and it's been one of his "poorer" seasons.

but dear god, people who watched it in england back me up- pleat's a lost cause but clive "reminds me of 99, could this be another roma, 2 italian sides, that balmy night in barcelona, rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooneyyy, ronaldo IS the best in the world, natural footballers, NATURAL FOOTBALLERS, oooooooh scholes, heh, heh, can united score- they always score, they never know when they're beaten, what a nutgmeg by o'shea, the united way, total football" tyldsley needs shooting.

kaka, bah, not as good as vassel.

I to can't stand Clive Tyldesley, he was one of the reasons I didn't watch the game last night. The thing is he'll no doubt be commentating on our 2nd leg at Anfield next week which will make that game extra unbearable, unless we're hammering them of course.

Milan weren't the same side after Gatusso and Maldini were taken off. Scholes should have been booked at the very least. Again.

I didn't watch it either cos it was on itv and didn't want to listen to that prat tossing off every time utd did anything...i'm sure he thinks van der sar has the best pair of gloves in the business, utd have the best ball boys etc if he had his way, utd would have had all 11 players in the pfa team of the year...I listened to it on radio five and it sounded to me like milan lost control when maldini and gattuso went off...also having seen the goals and listened to the game, it sounded like dida was a bit dodgy..

i share the fears over the second leg...extra special night at anfield, the kop, five times, you'll never walk alone icon_rolleyes.gif ...we'll barely get a mention...it's why i met the news about the itv deal involving england and the fa cup with such dismay

Rooney's goal in injury time was well taken, but what the heck was Dida doing at the far post? Here comes Rooney down the left side near the edge of the box, and Dida is parked at the right post?! Rooney took a nice shot toward the left post, and Dida was yards from the shot. If Dida would have been more properly positioned about 2 yards from the left post, he probably would have stopped that shot.

Dida really is a Dodo Bird when it comes to positioning.

Milan lost their rhythm when Gattuso went off, however United deserved their victory.

I thought Seedorf was Milan's best player. Constantly creating chances, and bossing the midfield, especially in the first half.

Kaka's goals were brilliantly taken, however, when he brought down Rooney on the edge of the box in the second half, i thought he could have gone for a second yellow? It was certainly another bookable offence, and to my mind, the ref bottled it.

Dida could have, and probably should have, saved all three goals.

Cech would have.

A great spectacle.

For the neutral that was a great game to watch - I really enjoyed it. The way it swayed one way then the other. Had mixed feeling 'cos I always like to see Man Utd get beat, especially at OT, but then I would love to meet and beat them in the final.

Fair play to them 'cos at 1-2 they looked down and out, yet in the end could easily have won by more.

I thought exactly the same. Tyldesley trys to sell you a game your already watching. It'll be worth putting a bet on how many times he mentions the word 'atmosphere' next week!!!!

When Ronaldo was fould by Seedorf in the 1st half Pleat said 'He seduced Seedorf into going for that' Seduced? of all the words!?! icon_rolleyes.gif

how you can spot a brass in the seven sisters rd, she's got a pleat in het skirt 169.gif

I'd echo those sentiments. I was really torn between wanting them to lose and at the same time appreciating that they deserved at least a draw and played some very good football going forward.

No doubt the turning point was Gattuso going off. He absolutely smothered the Utd midfield in the first half. After that they more or less had the run of midfield. Dida's keeping was very suspect - the last goal was worse than Canizares' effort against us.

For once, Rooney really did step up and played really well in the second half - certainly outshone Ronaldo. Kaka took his goals with a touch of class and looks oh so dangerous whenever he gets the ball.

I'd say the match is finely balanced. Should be a great match next week to decide who will play us in the final!

Could someone explain me why Evra got booked last night? I didn't quite see a reason there to book him, because I'm not sure he did anything wrong. I must've missed something. 300.gif

Swings and roundabouts. Can someone explain to me why Paul Scholes wasn't booked last night?

Swings and roundabouts.

Pardon? 300.gificon_lol.gif

The full saying is: what you gain on the swings you lose on the roundabouts. It means win some/lose some. The luck of the draw, that kind of thing.

Ok...thanks for the explanation, but I still have no idea why Evra got booked. Not that it matters THAT much to me, but I saw him get booked, and I just couldn't see what he was booked for, so I'm curious if someone has an explanation. Or is just that he didn't do anything and the ref just made a bad decision? Not sure what he think he saw Evra do.

I just love Kaka. He's a brilliant player but he also seems to be an okay guy. I haven't seen that much of Milan lately but as far as I've seen he doesn't dive that much. He's one player I would be happy to see at Chelsea. I would trade almost any player for him icon_eek.gif

Another player I really like is Gattuso. A hard-working, fair player. When my all-time favourite team Juventus lost their two titles and was demoted to serie B Gattuso defended Juventus (well, atleast the players) and I'll never forget that.

Pardon? Your what team? 106.gif

Yes, well...

I've actually supported Juventus longer than I've supported Chelsea. So if those two teams would play against eachother than I might actually cheer for Juventus, sorry icon_redface.gif
