Brighton Vs Chelsea Player Ratings:

Featured Replies

Time to fire up the player ratings thread people so the guidelines are;

Score each player (including subs) from 0-10

Score our manager from 0-10 based on team selection/tactics/substitutions

Give the opposing side a team mark from 0-10

About 48 hours after the match ends to get your scores in

We're all big boys and girls on here so no need for any fancy criteria, just score it as you see it, doesn't matter if you tend to score high or low as the results will be decided by the average. Comments alongside are voluntary but encouraged as people not able to watch the game can get more of a feel as to how individual players have performed

Probably need at least 10 posters per game to make it worthwhile so hopefully people pitch in!

Don't even have the teamsheet yet, but you went ahead and created a thread lol.

Guess you just wanted to be the first to do it right?

Just wanted to let people know in advance, driller. Nothing to do with being the first, I was unaware anyone else was wanting to start one. If so I would like to collaborate with them!

Kepa - 4 - Would have been a 6 or 7, but they scored from another of his mistakes.

Alonso - 6 - I thought he was decent. He didn't do much going forward, but defensively, I thought he performed as well as he could against a quick player like Lamptey.

Zouma - 7 - Solid, nothing spectacular, just did his job and did it well, exaclty what you want out of your CB.

Christensen - 7 - Same as Zouma, solid, no messing.

James - 7 - Excellent goal, okay defensively.

Kante - 7 - More like himself. It's been a while since I have seen him tackle and track players as well as that. We just need him to stay fit.

Jorginho - 6 - Took his penalty well, played his natural game, didn't get booked.

Loftus-Cheek - 3 - One to forget for Loftus-Cheek, he's still lacking the intensity he had before his injury.

Mount - 6 - A typical hard working performance from Mount. Didn't offer much in attack though.

Havertz - 5 - Not a great debut. It's going to take time for him to settle.

Werner - 7 - Excellent in the first half, he was very alert. He will score goals as long as the players play on the same wavelength as him. Gotta pick him out early so he can get a shot away.

Subs

Barkley - 6 - Changed the tempo of our game when he came on, he still took too long with some of his decision making though.

Hudson-Odoi - 5 - Full of energy when he came on, didn't have much time to have much of an impact on the game though.

Azpilicueta - 5 - Same as Hudson-Odoi, didn't have much time to make much of an impact.

Lampard - 7 - I thought he got our defensive shape right, things were a bit disjointed in attack though, which isn't surprising when we have injuries in those areas. Subs were fine, I would have preferred one a little earlier though.

Opposition score - 6 - They had a lot of the ball, but they didn't do much with it. Lamptey was their main threat, without him, they wouldn't have caused us any troubles.

Kepa - 5

Alonso - 6.

Zouma - 7

Christensen - 7 - Not his biggest fan generally, but thought he played well last night.

James - 7

Kante - 7

Jorginho - 6

Loftus-Cheek - 3 - Did nothing, I'm a fan of his, but this was not good enough

Havertz - 4 - Along with RLC he did not contribute enough.   He get's one more point than RLC because he's so new.

Mount - 6 - Not his greatest game, but not helped by poor perfaormances by RLC and Havertz

Werner - 8 - Worked his socks off and looked threatening,  Will look even better with Pulisic and Ziyech

Subs

Barkley - 7 - Team looked better as soon as he came on

Hudson-Odoi - 5 - Want him to be a star, but I just don't see it at the moment

Azpilicueta - 6

Lampard - 7 - Did OK, I thought he could have removed RLC or Havertz earlier, as midfield struggling to create much.  I accept that they both need on-field time though.

Opposition score - 6 - Brighton will do OK this season, solidly mid-table.

Afternoon all, who was the numpty at CFC who released Lamptey cause they didn’t think he would “go all the way” but kept Hudson oh-dear cause, presumably, they thought he would ? Are Bayern Munich still interested ? Get rid asap, useless.

On another note, how about converting Alonso into a no.9 - tall, athletic, good in the air, great left peg, excellent ball control  - got to be worth a shout and would give Giroud and Abrahams a run I reckon ?

Why did they keep a winger and allow a right back that wanted to leave to leave because he was behind another young right back, and a right back the club actually did try and keep by offering a contract? Is that your question?

Not really, my question is to question the decision makers at Chelsea who rate players like Hudson oh-dear as potentially going to “make it” , when it’s pretty obvious that he isn’t good enough for a top 4 premier league team - granted Lamptey May not be a top 4 player either, but he was better than most last night. I appreciate it’s not a crystal ball thing but these guys are supposed to be knowledgeable about this ??? Seriously reckon I could do no worse!
Similarly, who gave Kepa - known by me as mike yarwood cause he does an terrible impression of a goalkeeper - the nod @ 70+ Million? Besides not being especially talented in the goal keeping dept , he’s way tooooooo small for a top 4 keeper , never mind Mendy why didn’t we go after Martinez ? A snip @ 16 million.

Besides, right back , shiltz back - there isn’t such a thing anymore in 21st century football - Playing multiple systems and formations the only differentiation between players now days is wether they use the left foot, right foot, both feet or their hands - that’s it as far as I can tell - hence my point about using an obviously talented player like Alonso as a forward rather than at the back , in a 4, 4,2 combo he looks suspect but play him in a 3 , 5 , 2 and he looks ok at the back

I thought the point of a forum was to express views and opinion ? You don’t have to agree and you can bury your head as much as you wish, but winning 3-1 against a team that we were arguably the better side on the night and that will struggle to achieve better than mid table Isn’t good enough - in my opinion

No room for objectivity these days I'm afraid. I knew all this was going to happen, where would Lamptey play exactly? Would he play over Reece James? And then if Reece James moves out and plays well will we be saying "who was that numptey who let James go". Or do we get rid of one of our most experienced and superb defenders in Azpilicueta and then complain when we're lacking in experience and have defensive woes at the right side?

Lamptey who looks talented, still has a lot to prove, I still prefer James and I think he was picked for a reason. But make no mistake, you're still going to get those comments like "wHy dID wE lEt LaMpTeY gO"

I wasn’t put James up against Lamptey - truthfully, I didn’t really appreciate who Lamptey was before recent v Brighton games - he played ok and was probably correctly given MoM - My issue is and always has been is what do people see in Hudson oh-dear that I don’t see ? He’s too scared of making a mistake that he ends up doing nothing at all - don’t think he’s got it in him to be a top 4 squad player , I don’t think it’s a question of confidence I suspect it’s everything to do with a lack of ability imoh?

So you didnt know who he was but after seeing him play one game have now decided we were wrong to let him go? What does letting Lamptey go (Which we didnt actually do, he decided he wanted to leave) have to do with Hudson Odoi?

Callum Hudson Oh Dear, so very apt. I too would love this guy to become the super star that we all thought he would, but I am afraid I just can't see it. I think he is "freewheeling" on his big contract.

I NEVER said we were wrong to let him go, I questioned who made the decision that he could go (irrespective of who instigated the move)  and yet still keep Hudson oh-dear - having seen oh-dear play on numerous occasions, I have never understood the fuss and frankly, in last nights game, saw more potential from Lamptey at either a wing back or a winger than I have ever seen from Oh-dear.

I think it’s a question of sizism (is that a word?) @ 5’5’’ I guess he’s considered to be too small but hey, Little Legs Matter too, and coombsie 100% correct about free wheeling on a big contract and he isn’t the only one

Well Bayern has seen enough in CHO for a look at the very least, ....hes 19 years old and has vast potential.  Like many teenagers he has his dips. The injury didn't help either.

It’s mystifying to me that BM are showing interest, because on the one hand you are correct, he’s young, he has a youth team reputation and he has, arguably , potential, but he’s never produced a standard or level of performance against any PL team and quite frankly, I personally don’t see any chance of him developing into a top 4 and CL player, as much as I might wish it ?

Don’t think the coaches at CFC will be able to get a tune out of him and it’s obvious (to me) that he doesn’t believe in himself, has little or no confidence in his own ability and doesn’t have what it takes to compete at the highest level - cut him loose and let him find his level ?
