So, to me, that is a good thing that he is being used this way, but it is not working out, so everyone is pissed about it, to use a good American expression. Didn't Kane want to leave, but he was blocked by Levy? And now look what he is doing for the Spuds. I am sure Spuds fans are not miserable about Kane staying - its all about productivity. No problem with that. None. But RWB? You have to be joking me.
August 30, 20222 yr Well I will grant you that CP is not as bad as Bakayoko, DD, Boulahrouz, Kezman (not so sure about that one), Ben Haim, and Fleck. But is he worth anywhere near what was paid for him? Unfortunately, the answer is a clear NO.
August 30, 20222 yr Christ, another Pullisic thread, like we haven't had enough in the original thread. Not ruling out he could go before the window ends, but if no acceptable offer comes in, he stays and earns his money like a professional. There are plenty of games to be played, if he can't find his confidence and form, it's on him. If he has a poor world cup as a result of it, so be it, and that's on him too. The club is not a charity, can't give away players for free just because pundits and fans whinge about it.

Does one champions league final goal equate to 2 years of sh*t play with no criticism? Werner scored 3 goals today, so obviously the Bundesliga is a sh*t league & players that succeed there cannot succeed on the premiership or perhaps just perhaps our manager doesn't have any tactical understanding & hesitates to make changes when necessary
August 31, 20222 yr Yes, one CL winning goal does give Havertz that much leeway imo. He does not get DFA’ed.
August 31, 20222 yr And the Bundesliga now is a far cry from when I watched and loved it in the 70s and 80s with Rumminegge, Schumacher, Klaus Fisher, Andreas Brehme, Yosihiku Okudera, … (I’m starting to cry).😪

He seems a nice enough fella and I don't doubt his will to win which I do with the likes of Ziyech, Odoi and Jorginho, but from an ability perspective he is lower league. Try Miami ....on a free

August 31, 20222 yr Depends who other teams protect in their 40 man rosters for the upcoming Rule 5 draft. oh wait …, wrong sport. Edited August 31, 20222 yr by Phillip

Maybe, just maybe, their offensive set isn't relying on wingbacks crossing the ball to players who aren't good in the air, defensive midfielders who cannot penetrate, push the ball upfield quickly or pass. Maybe, just maybe, Werner knows exactly what position he will be playing on weekly basis, is given clear expectations, and isn't threatened on being benched for a bad game. Just sayin'

August 31, 20222 yr I read a fascinating article the other day that discussed the rise of fans who support a player as opposed to a club. Pulisic and American fans being the example raised. This thread seems to confirm that article's hypothesis. Handy player in the right system, but for me with TT's preference for a three at the back, he just doesn't fit. Sterling's arrival also places him down the pecking order. My feeling would be a departure might be in his best interests because he is likely only going to be a depth player for us from here on out.

August 31, 20222 yr As an American my sense of the American fan base is that if Boehly thinks he is building Chelsea fans by holding on to Pulisic, he is mistaken. The Athletic reports (contrary to posts on this thread) that Boehly blocked loan deals with more than one other club, which may be part of why CP is pouting. Regardless of why, clearly CP is floundering at Chelsea and was abysmal today. So hanging on to him isn’t really going to sell jerseys. OTOH I can see the economic logic of waiting until after the WC to loan or unload him, because he seems to always play well with the national team. Did you see Werner had a hat trick today? Maybe there is something to the notion that TT doesn’t know how to use attackers?

Happy to see Werner got a hattrick but worth noting that it was against the Bundesliga equivalent of a 4th division team. I agree on Pulisic sadly. His performance today was woeful and I think he would benefit from a fresh start at a new club. Even a loan might help. He certainly will need more playing time before the World Cup, or he risks losing his spot in the US team.
