I am a bit confused on the red card rule this season though. Taking my Chelsea glasses off for a moment, it looked to me that Van Dijk wasn't trying to catch the player, so shouldn't that be a yellow? I know he is last man and everything, but I didn't think that was the rule anymore as long as you are trying to win the ball?

The rule is only if it denies a goal scoring opportunity. Which it did. Disk was through before VVD tripped him.
