May 15May 15 There just seems to be a lot going on in the background with him during his first year. Still can’t wrap my head around him going back to Brazil in business end of the season for treatment, and coming back with 3 games to go. There seems to be some confusion with some suggesting he went back to try and make the Brazilian World Cup squad. Is he fit or is he not?

The two of them can’t share the same position.I also feel a top club in the PL needs a ball carrier on one wing, and a player who attacks the space on the other wing due to the low blocks. Doku is probably the best ball carrier in the PL, and we all saw what damage Ngumoha could do last weekend. The closest we have to that profile is Estevao, but he is presently inferior to the aforementioned two. He needs to be a nailed on first team player if we are a serious club, which shifts Palmer to the “10”. I also don’t want to see Enzo masquerading as a “10” next season if he stays, and would rather move him back to the position we paid €115m for.Estevao is 18 and he can't even play back to back game (this is pre hammy injury). There is really nothing to talk about.

Is he fit or is he not?Well WC is out of the question—he wasn't on the prelist already given to FIFA.Speaking of which, some rumor about either JP or Andrey (maybe even both) may miss the final cut too. Apparently they haven't been too impressed with either player's recent form. Edited May 16May 16 by acaeus

That's a complete rupture or tear.

Same as if there's serious tendon damage. Anything else would heal in time. The issue is usually whether the player and club are willing to take that time and/or commit to a program for recovery. As you and I are undoubtedly finding out these days, a poorly rehabbed hamstring is a recipe for everything else.
May 17May 17 @markpitts wheres all this a "lot going on in the background with him during his first year" stuff then?

May 18May 18 I think he'll flourish under Alonso, the same way Wirtz did as one of the 10's in the half space.

I am a big fan of Estevao, I just don’t think we are the right club for his talent. It’s more about going all the way back to Brazil for rehab. If every time a player got injured they decided to go back to their home country for rehab, we might be in trouble. I am interested in what the Brazilian fan that posts often on here feels the general sentiment is amongst Brazilian fans a year into his move.

Dont be so ridiculous.

I just think it’s weird travelling round the world for rehab when you have world class facilities at your employer. I feel he went to Brazil to try and see if the Brazilian NT medics might OK him making the World Cup squad.

Chelsea are supervising the rehab, they have sent someone to oversee things. He might as well enjoy himself with family and friends at the same time.

He has grade 4, he probably won't even be back for the start of next season. Flying to Brazil is fine, not sure you can do any treatment/rehab straight away after injury.
June 5Jun 5 I just read the below - assuming it is a real quote, this is very encouraging The StandardEstevao issues injury update as Chelsea star eyes comebac...Teenager was ruled out of World Cup with a torn hamstring"I had an injury where I tore 80 per cent of my hamstring bicep femoris,” he explained.“The Chelsea doctors wanted me to have surgery and even the Chelsea owner said he wanted me to have surgery.“Two weeks ago, I had a second MRI scan, and the doctor asked if I was in pain or feeling anything.“I said: 'No, doctor, I'm fine, I think I could even play already.'“He said: 'Yeah, it really shows.' He showed me the exam image and said he couldn't see any more of the injury.“He said he doesn't know what happened, because in the timeframe we're in, it shouldn't be that well-structured like it is."

Hard to believe that 80% of the hamstring which was a complete tear, all of a sudden regenerate within 2 weeks. He's likely showed some progress already, and good thing for his is that he has all summer for a proper rehabilitation. Edited June 5Jun 5 by Sconnie Blue
June 5Jun 5 Really hope this lad has a stellar season for us next year. Fingers crossed a summer off and a holiday see's him raring to go.

Tore his ACL, didn't want to believe it, misinterpreted his doctor, went on to play and permanently destroyed his knee.
