PTSD from a few years ago when everybody was getting injured and never returning without breaking down again. I still think we made Estevao bulk up too quickly. Hamstring and similar injuries are more common when players are forced to gain muscle quickly.

Hopefully it is an isolated situation as part of growing and it doesn't now set in like it dogged Owen during his career
July 15Jul 15 I think Reece is closer to Owen than Steveo. James is still not back to his best and still can't play 2 games a week. He was once dominating at RB remember. Now if Estêvão's hammy breaks down before Christmas and puts him out for months then yeah it could happen.

He got hammy issue in training, he got hammy issue the moment he was given back to back games. All of these are normal stuff.

Why would he get a hamstring injury just because he played 2 games back to back? You think it's weird for a player at 18 years of age to play 2 games in a row?

Wednesday at 09:373 days Not to dampen the feel good factor on here at the moment but just a quick look at how Xabi is setting us up and does anyone else get the feeling Stevie could be the biggest loser of all this? He’s never going to be ‘wingback’ he’s a solely attacking player and with Palmer & Rogers working in tandem so well and the lack of European football. I just can’t see where his opportunity to get a run of games in his best position is going to come from?No player is bigger than the club etc but I do like the kid, he’s exciting and has the right attitude but maybe being here is just going to hamper any of his development?
Wednesday at 09:413 days I sort of feel that, at his age, this might be good for him. Palmer and Rodgers playing every PL game is unrealistic, there will be injuries/illnesses at some point, and this gives him the chance to really graft and gel with the team, learn the tactical side of the game and mature a bit as a player without being thrust into the spotlight. Last season there was so much expectation on him and that isn't always good for a youngster. Let's see how he develops coming on in the last 30-20 mns, playing cup games and starting the odd PL. Might be good for him.

There's plenty of minutes to share in that role behind the striker.
Wednesday at 10:373 days Hope he can get back to what we saw when he first joined us and at least be a really good impact sub.The "bulk-up" talked about earlier in the thread does concern me a little. When he came on the other night he looked massive and I know he had the lay-off and is rusty, but he looked really out of sorts. Keep him off the burgers and chips...............!!

Not writing him off, but my expectations have dropped massively and my hopes are a bit dented too.

No way Brazil’s wonderkid sits permanently on the bench. He will be following Santos out of the door next summer.
Wednesday at 10:593 days He's 19 and just off the back of a major injury ffs what is wrong with you all12 G/A in 1600 minutes last season, lets write him off based on a 15 minute cameo though Edited Wednesday at 11:003 days by All Barco no bite

Let JPMorgan steal the headlights and pressure, whilst he can develop in the background. He will play a lot of minutes, I'm not really worried about that. The worst kind of environment for him is what he had last season, where he almost became our only hope of actually making something happen
Wednesday at 11:243 days His minutes will come. He’s been out for a bit and we’re one game in. If all remain fit then minutes could be limited, but that’s also contingent on us always playing a back 3. While that seems likely, I’m sure games will come where we don’t have enough CBs (Fofana, Lacroix, Colwill, Hato and Josh - unless I’m missing someone) and may force a back four. Anyway, Estevao always wanted to be 10. The inside position Palmer occupied is ideal when his minutes come along. Hopefully Estevao and Quenda start vs Luton - exciting to see.
