Perhaps because Brighton are a better run club? Danny Welbeck. We are gonna pay £50 million for him. You know it's gonna happen soon.
August 24, 20241 yr I reckon if we kept Poch, we win most of the friendlies, draw with City 1-1, stuff Sevette and probably nick a win at Wolves tomorrow!
August 25, 20241 yr Yeah but Atletico has a 50% sell on fee. If he’s good, they’ll get the £40 eventually

You could be right although the home defeat last year to Wolves was my low point of the season where I started to think we can’t really get much worse than today luckily things improved
August 25, 20241 yr Author I guess what I mean is if we appointed the bloke Brighton did and had there fixtures I don’t see us winning them games definitely not yesterdays maybe the Everton one but not 3-0 away I just wonder why our previous two managers took so long to get going when he hasn’t Hope Enzo gets off to a flier

What were you up to last season mod? ….because pretty sure you couldn’t have watched us play under Poch if you think this. Jesting aside, go back and watch games after Poch had a full year of training and implementing his tactics - for example, our game against forest towards the end of last year. We were as bad as I have ever seen us. He had no clue how to get a tune out of them.

This has continued from potter, through RDZ and now under the new guy. Compare that to us who have lurched from ultra cautious TT, to potterball, to Pochball (unorganised mess). Strangely - despite the changes in approach - we have continued to move the ball slowly whoever is in charge) 2) linked to 1, although the playing squad has evolved - the same core of players remain, with a few tweaks and like for like replacements here and there. This has resulted in a club and players who are familiar with and comfortable in their system - well regimented and able to execute. 3)teams generally play differently against the likes of Brighton than us. Despite our recent malaise we are still seen as a big game, and opposing players can get “up” for it. They also tend to take less chances against us - and therefore leave less space to exploit -making it harder to break them down. 4) Brighton players seem a good fit and well scouted. Very different to our square pegs in round holes. Disasi and Baddy as ball playing defenders, wacko as a striker, Enzo as a dm (or a 10) - all players shoe horned into a system and roles that don’t suit. That would be my guess….

I agree with some great points I couldn’t agree with point 2 as there has been a massive change in player turnover compared to 18 months ago so there isn’t much the same core there that TT left behind , not all for the best but a change never the less

We were as bad as I have ever seen us. He had no clue how to get a tune out of them. Watched every game in some format! Awful wasn’t it, dire football! Terrible! Was it the game on Christmas Eve against wolves where the team were completely embarrassed! But… what I also saw was a complete turnaround in the last games of the season! Was it 5 or 6 games on the bounce, good football, players looked happy to play and enjoying it again, team spirit! Now, it’s all back to zero and have to get there again somehow, whether it be 3 or 4 managers like the season prior again trying to work things out! I want Enzo to do well and become a great like Jose, Carlo, Conte at the club! But with this board in charge, he’ll just get the same treatment every other manager has since the takeover! Keep nodding and saying yes Enzo, good boy!

We never really wanted him or Felix when all is said and done.
August 25, 20241 yr Not sure if mentioned but there’s a different level of pressure playing for a top club. That and it’s the start of the season. Brighton were borderline relegation candidates 2nd half of last season.
August 25, 20241 yr What a great start!!! thought it was important to note that goal in this thread. My bad Edited August 25, 20241 yr by PhilH930
August 29, 20241 yr So basically Brighton might be able to have a new manager and start better than Chelsea because unlike us they are not a top team .
