February 7Feb 7 If you look at who they have identified and bought I think you can say they have done a good job. These are the early signs at least. I don't even know why this feels so controversial to say... As far as I know the club decided to buy young players before their market value is through the roof (which is something that the earlier regimen didn't do). This has been said by Todd Boehly a couple of times in interviews. This is exactly what the SD's have done. Estevao, Paez, Santos, Casadei, Veiga, Palmer, Jackson and so on. All are young and best days ahead of them. Under Roman we would have done the old route by buying established players. Now that is okay and it resulted in trophies here and there but I feel we needed some major change so we could build something better. Even If it takes time. I think it is a bit weird even criticizing those guys as we are so early on on this project. I understand fans wanted to push for title/CL by buying your Osimhens and someone that doesn't fit the plan but I hope these guys and the owners stick to the plan.

I agree - I hated it when we signed already established (and in many cases past their best) players, like Shevchenko, Ballack, Deco etc. But equally you cannot spend so much money on young, inexperienced and unproven players who may or may not come good. Some of the dealings under the new regime are laughable.

Some of the dealings under the new regime are laughable. If we are talking about the Sporting directors here you need to remember there is the part where Boehly and Eghbali made the deals and since early 2023 Paul and Laurence have made the deals...or identified and suggested the acquisitions. Comparing us to Liverpool for example that is in a completely different timeline in terms of their project you can see they only make 1-2 key purchases by window. Actually our January window shows we have already bought our main bulk of players. If the club was hurrying to speed up the project this season we would have brought in some weird players that are risk/immovable as we did in the past. They probably wanted players but didn't want to risk. I think the club is pretty eased and happy how we are doing. Enzo's said about 10 times the club doesn't expect any position on the table this season. So why the hell should we pull our hair out over this...?

The "plan" is just a gamble with no way of knowing if it might work.. And we have bought players whose value was already ' through the roof" . We've spent an awful lot of money and yet we are nowhere near the team we were under Roman's last season as our owner.. All we can do is hope their expensive gamble takes us back to where we were before the forced sale of the club.
February 7Feb 7 Author interesting view points most of the valid in many ways the problem i have is i want Chelsea challenging now it seems that some are happy with a mid table team because in a few years all the young players are all going to have developed and jelled into this amazing team because all the other teams will not improve or buy top mature players its a fantasy that we can only dream will work How long will are young prospects stick around when the clubs that are winning trophies come calling after all they have no reason to chelsea is not in there blood they did not come through the academy they are here for the money and trophies

But we DO know what does work, that policy that brought us all those trophies for 20 yesrs. The owners have decided that they know better. It's a gamble, not a plan. Some of the dealings under the new regime are laughable. Tosin is our oldest outfield player, it speaks volumes doesn't it. We have a ridiculously low average age in this team compared to the other Premier League teams. I remember Aston Villa tried this model a long time ago under Paul Lambert, it eventually led to them being relegated the following season and they declined drastically, spending years in the Championship recovering from it. And the worst part is, we're not building this team for the future, we're building it solely as a business model to sell players on big profits. That's the most hurtful part, because it means we will keep repeating the process...
February 7Feb 7 Yep the model is buy young and instead of nurturing and slowly introduce them into the 1st team its they've managed to put 50% on value lets get shot.

Although the league itself was lot less competitive. We had the best coach around with a brilliant side. My question is: do you want to continue in the vein MU is doing business or do what we do? I feel we have a better chance with the young crop. City and Liverpool are the only sides that are on a certain level, Arsenal just below them. They have fixed systems, experienced players on key positions. We have none of that. I'd say Palmer and Caicedo are the only champion level players on their positions right now.

Thanks for your reply mate When you point out that City, Liverpool and Arsenal have fixed systems and experienced players and that we have none of that, I think you've pointed out the failures of our current ownership. Anyway, United losing ! 🤣
