loz
OK this shows how bored I am today. New manager on the horizon and a team in need of a major shake up as this one looks thoroughly uninterested in improving - a lot of that will be down to the manager but the players have to take a degree of blame as well. So time for an overhaul and looking ahead to the England team of the future. Who do you see being the starting XI For me (keeping it simple with a 4-4-2): .......................................Robert Green ................................ .Richards..........Terry..............Ferdinand/Lescott............. A Cole Lennon.................Gerrard................Reo Coker................J Cole ...........................Rooney....................Walcott.................... .... A few notes 1. Green will be 30 but we are desperately short of decent keepers 2. Ferdinand will be 32 but I think he and JT will easily be the English central pairing for the next 2-3 years - Lescott as back up 3. Bridge may have just destroyed any hope he had of replacing Cashley in the England team - by 2010 my guess is Cole will still be firts choice and leighton baines will be the back up So not really much change in the defence other than the keeper. 4. Yes Gerrard is in there but Lampard isn't - Gerrard has two years on Lampard which is the main reason for this and although personally I would have no problem with neither being in the 2010 team I suspect Gerrard will be. 5. Other players on the periphery will be Ben Foster, Bentley and maybe youngsters like Vaughan and even Sinclair (but only if he can get some games)

just
Youngsters who could be involved? Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, James Vaughan, Gareth Bale, Michael Dawson, Milner, possibly Huddlestone. Scott Sinlcair, Michael Mancienne, Matt Derbyshire.

coco
Lennon.................Gerrard................Reo Coker................J Cole...........................Rooney....................Walcott.................... .... If thats the best 6 we can find for our attack our days are numbered ! Lennon will be bumped off the ball by anyone over 3ft6 tall. Gerrard will be using a zimmer frame (he needed one Wednesday). Reo Coker has a lot to prove yet, but possibly will be there. Joe Cole is the kind of player that i can see being there still in 2010. Rooney... well will Rooney turn into another Owen, injury problems and lack of pace after youth may see Rooney wither away like Owen. Walcott has every chance of being there, but he isnt exactly setting the world alight is he ? It's a shame we have no Kerry Dixon, Alan Shearer or Gary Lineker around these days. loz
Maybe the goalkeeper coule be the lad at City Joe Hart. He has impressed me for someone still young and will be 23 by 2010. Maybe not the first choice keeper but certainly there or thereabouts.
JT26CFC
ah yes Joe Hart is very good. Ever since he took over from schmiechel he's impressed me.

RB: Richards CD: Terry CD: Ferdinand LB: Cashley RM: Bentley CM: Hargreaves CM: Carrick LM: Joe Cole ST: Rooney ST: Crouch Bench: Another keeper, preferably someone with experience like James Spare defender Left footed player like Bridge Pacy winger like Lennon St Steven Gerrard MBE 2 strikers, Ashton and Walcott maybe
JT26CFC
what about Ben Foster in goal. Did quite well last year, although he's injured now, he'll be a great goal keeper for man united when he comes back. And i'd think rooney with abonglahor in the front. loz
A midfield of Carrick alongside Hargreaves isn't something that appeals to me at all however I do agree that Bentley will probably feature regularly by 2010.
MURDOCH_(8)
Anyone fancy that kid Johnson at City?
Fwiffo
We'll see how Carrick + Hargreaves works for Man United. Both are more intelligent players than Gerrard though. There's a reason why Gerrard plays on the right for Liverpool. He lacks discipline. He may play with passion, but passion seems to mean running around like a madman with no particular purpose and airmailing 70 yard balls into touch. mad_mac
I can't believe that you are atlking about the future England team (not that I am too bothered) without mentioning Agbonlahor. From what I have seen of that kid, and his performances for club and the U21 side, I think that he may well feature heavily in your lot's campaign for 2010
barak81
hmmm 2010... unfortunatly for the next manager i think any stars we may have coming throught may be peaking at the next euro's and if they are good enoughto feature in the next world cup it may just be to soon but ill play loz's game Id also go with the 4-4-2 And strangly cant see the team being any different to the team that starts now when every one is fit, nevill and beckham appart. However playr's to come in, bently IMO is the best right wing option we have in replacing beckham, a far better footballer that SWP and Lennon and some one i wouldnt mind us going after to be honest. Come to think of it i think quite a lot of ashly young as well but time will tell there From what ive seen sincalre is a better player that walcot but one has the better PR!! Im hoping that sinclare gets his chance sooner rather than later. He looks a better bet that kaulo is at the moment and have mixed feelings about malouda. plus he can play up frount in a 4-4-2 Sadly i cant think of a great deal of young center backs or center mids we have coming through that can step up to the level we are going to need them up...
