The Moos
We won the first on at home (2-1) but now we have to face them away and that won't be easy. Any news about the signings and the injured players? Will Lamps make a return, can Sweepy play and are Ivanovic and/or Santos ready to play? Let's win this one and move on to the final! peyton
The rumours from my work colleagues in Liverpool is that this is Everton's biggest cup night at home since they beat Bayern Munich in the semi-Final of the ECWC in the mid 80's and they are going to do everything they can to make life difficult on Wednesday night...whatever that means! Gem
This is their best chance at a trophy, and ranks 4th in what we want. Thanks to that last minute own goal, they have to come at us which will hopefully leave them fairly open at the back, and we can then play it in behind them. If we hadn't have signed Anelka, that wouldn't have mattered as we'd have no one in our team capable of such a task (that may be harsh on SWP, but not on Pizzaro, J.Cole or Malouda). I'd take a 1-1 draw with our injuries/absenties

MannyJello
with SWP out, we're without 8 players for this match: Terry, Lampard, SWP, Sheva, Mikel, Essien, Drogba, Kalou Here's how I'd like to see us line up: -------------------Cech--------------------- ---Belletti----Alex-----Carvalho-----A.Cole--- -----------Ballack-------Makelele------------ ---Sinclair--------------------------Bridge---- ------------------J.Cole---------------------- ------------------Anelka--------------------- subs: Cudicini, Ben Haim, Sidwell, Pizarro, Malouda (no spot for Ferreira or Sahar) the three things about this lineup that i don't see happening, but i wish for nonetheless... - starting both Bridge and Cashley, which i can't ever recall actually happening for us (maybe for England, not for CFC) - playing Joe Cole in a withdrawn striker role, almost like Eidur used to play. - starting spot for Sinclair however, i think Grant will play a more defensive minded, counter-attacking unit, so the lineup i guess we'll see is: -------------------Cech--------------------- ---Belletti----Alex-----Carvalho-----Bridge--- -----------Ballack-------Makelele------------ ---J.Cole---------Sidwell-----------Malouda--- ------------------Anelka--------------------- subs: Cudicini, Ben Haim, Ferreira, Pizarro, Sahar/Sinclair

He is 85min sub the most. He cant play at this level yet and I think this is too important match to start with him. In which game was he so good that for example he should start over J.Cole? I have wathced two games we have played him and he seems average. He just runs straight against the defenders with his head down...just like SWP did for the first two seasons with us. blizeH
As much as I agree with your other choices (Joe Cole sat just behind Anelka, Bridge in front of Cole on the left) I also agree with evissy that Sinclair isn't quite good enough to start in a cup semi final against a very, very capable opponent. Alan
According to Avram, SWP has a chance of playing tomorrow night: [iframe:3j65zg9m]http://www.chelseafc.com/page/NewsHomePage/0,,10268~1222195,00.html[/iframe:3j65zg9m] As for the team, I'm going to go for: Cech Beletti Alex Carvalho Bridge Maka Ballack Sidwell Joe Cole Anelka Malouda (SWP if fit) Subs: Carlo, TBH, Pizarro, Sinclair, Malouda (if SWP is fit, or Sahar if he is not). Score: 1-0 Chelsea, with Anelka scoring his first goal for the club.

Gem
I've come to the conclusion (as have many I'm sure) that we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. Everyone expects us to beat Everton because we are the better side (i.e. higher in the league, more victories etc... pretty simple to understand) - and press won't let any other contributing factors count. Sure, it's all right for Stevens and co to harp on that the 'off the field antics' are affecting the scum, but we can't use our injuries or enforced absenties as a genuine reason why we may struggle. That, plus the fact that this is Everton's main chance for a trohpy... they'll be up for it, their fans will be... Basically... if we win, we're the better side, it's expected, no big deal. If we lose? Everton's passion, skill and commitment were 3 times that of ours and we couldn't be bothered Come on Chels, us against the world eh? ethicalstrategy
A big test tonight I think. Everton are going to be really up for it. We need to ensure that we are strong and get control of the midfield early on. If we can pass this test and go on to win the final then I may have to revise my opinion of Mr Grant It seems SWP is almost certainly out and the BBC are reporting that Frank has broken down in training again (don't know if that is again, again or that they are just a few days behind with their news!) I would go with Cech Belletti Alex Carvalho Bridge Makalele Ballack Sidwell Cole Anelka Malouda If we need to be more attacking then bring on Pizarro for Sidwell. I reckon we should do this. We have outplayed them in both games this season without getting the results our performances deserved. Let's change that tonight!
BLUENUT
I'm not sure if it's the pessimist in me but I'm not at all confident about tonight. My Dad's been waiting 47 years for revenge on Spurs in a Wembley final aswell.
loz
I am feeling quietly optimistic Bluenut which surprises me as I normally get the fear when it comes to semi finals and expect us to blow it. No real reason for feeling this way as Everton are on a reasonable run just now (not great but reasonable) and are proving far more resilient then you would expect. Also this will be a massive game for Everton and I expect them to come out with all guns blazing and I can see us being under a afair bit of pressure in the first 20 minutes or so. So all in all I have no idea why I feel good about it, just do!
The Brit
I got a feeling that we may see a repeat of last night...not so much the scoreline (I hope), but I just fear everton want it more than us like spurs did with the arse...grant's comments didn't convince me otherwise
Nibs
Just hope our boys come out flying as well because Everton certainly will. A lot could depend on Anelka. Are we 100% sure he is not cup tied? Bolton played Fulham and won and then lost to Man City. Surely if he took part in either of those games, he cannot play for us? Hope it's as good a game as the first leg and another 2-1 to us would suit me fine.
Gem
He didn't play in either Nibs, the man said so himself in an interview the other day. I wasn't nervous about playing the scum last round, and in the final last year I was extremely confident, but not so sure about tonight..! Mainly because they'll be up for this, we have bigger fish to fry.

JT26CFC
Well it doesn't help that Lescott is very good on set pieces and our defending of set pieces has been pretty bad. 1-0 Anelka scoring
