Posted October 3, 200816 yr Was browsing a few threads on an Arsenal board, and they are not very impressed by him. A few quotes from here and here: Gallas is a f****g joke.Drop him, no no stick him in the reserves and promote one of the young lads who actually give a s**t. Since Gallas has joined us he isnt the Gallas who has played with Chelsea. its really time for him to step up defensivly wise, otherwise its time for another. Gallas was directly responsible for 3 of the 4 goals the team has conceded this season. And all three due to the fact that he can't head for s**t or 'switched off' as you put it. Gallas' attitude stinks and he isn't as good as he once was or thinks he is. I'm finding increasingly hard to defend the undefendable (no pun intented) at the moment, William Gallas Gallas' fear of contact, hard work, and poor positional play are hardly what I'd call constructive. He doesn't defend. He's a CB, a defender. And he doesn't defend well. Goals and runs forward don't excuse his inability to do his most basic job. It is a little excessive, but he was poor last year and he's poor this year, both as a captain and as a defender. His attitude, in one word, was childlike. "I want this, I want that, Damn them they play like sh*t". Do your job Gallas, dont destroy our gameplan. I'd even take Cygan right now! Gallas for the drop! Gallas...ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone seen Gallas win a defensive header in an Arsenal shirt? Add Cousin to the list of mediocre players to undress Gallas this season I counted today. In contesting aerial balls Touré managed to come out on top only twice in every contested header and Gallas not even once. f**k GALLAS Gallas , strip him of the armband and drop him. The way Cousin got away from him was laughable. You get the general idea. There is much more Gallas abuse there. If think Wenger is misusing him - he needs a big strong partner like Terry to be suuccessful as a CB, but Wenger got rid of Senderos and they don't have anyone like that. But that aside, who do you think got the better of the Cole/Gallas swap?
October 3, 200816 yr who do you think got the better of the Cole/Gallas swap? i think we did, gallas didnt want to be at chelsea, and we dont want players who dont want be there ash cole as been magnificent for chelsea, he always gives his best, i think most were unsure of him when he 1st arrived, but he is now a firm favourite with fans
October 3, 200816 yr Gallas must be a really big c**t then. We all know how many French players they have ;) . Talking about French players Anelka has a blog in Eurosport.com. You should check it out. Not too exciting but you get the idea what kind of person Nic is.

At first I was sure that Arsenal got the better part of the deal, but looks like it was well worth it for us. I haven't seen Arsenal play lately, so I couldn't say much about Gallas' performances for them, though.

October 3, 200816 yr What kind of person do you think he is? Shy, reserved, polite. I think someone has translated his french to english and he still manages to sound all the things I described. I mean it shouldn't be the language barrier holding him back with his views. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/30092008/58/...al-recover.html
October 3, 200816 yr I think we are more inclined to say we got the better end of the deal now because a) Carvalho's form and consistency improved a lot after Gallas went b. Wenger stupidly made Gallas captain (and even more stupidly kept him as captain) and it has shown up all his weaknesses. a) means we have missed him less than we expected to and b. makes it easier to say he wasn't all that great after all. However he was all that great and alongside JT they were the finest centre half pairing I have seen in the UK since McLeish and Miller were together at Aberdeen. So my take on it is that we probably got the better end of the deal purely when you compare us to Arsenal because of the way the whole captaincy thing has imploded but overall we got a worse deal because I would rather have Gallas (albeit a happy Gallas) in the team than Cole.
October 3, 200816 yr I definately think we have the better deal, and thought so at the time. Basically we got the best left back in world football at the present time for £5mil. Don't get me wrong i love Bridgey, but in all honesty he isn't in the same league as Ashley Cole, and now we are playing in a system that suits his game we will reap the benefits.

October 3, 200816 yr Gallas is, always was, and always will be, a complete twat. Childish, selfish, arrogant - talented yes but with deep rooted personality flaws that eventually make him more of a liabiity than an asset. At the time it looked like we'd got by far the worst of the deal - Arse fans were crowing and more Chelsea fans than not were deeply suspicious - don't forget that until recently Cole was almost universally referred to as Cashley. Now Gallas has shown his true colours, and Ashley Cole has hit the best running of form since he joined us. So yes I think it's safe to say that in the long run, we got by far the better of that particular deal.
October 3, 200816 yr While he was at the Bridge i thought Billy was one of the best defenders in the world, but since he left he's gone completely off the boil... Ash Cole has won over the majority of us Chelsea fans over the last few years, and his performances have grown the longer he's been with us and he consistently performs at a high level.. I think we got the better of the deal, Riccy and JT have blossomed as a partnership since Gallas went. Both players behaved shockingly over the transfer saga and Gallas in his own whinging way has continued to cause problems with Arsenal with some childish tantrums and some silly comments... Ash has kept his head down and knuckled down on the pitch and that for me is what its all about
October 3, 200816 yr Since the swap, I think we've got more out of Cole than Arsenal have out of Gallas. Good times
October 3, 200816 yr Not only that, CF, but we will continue to GET more, too. Four years more, to be exact! I think we are more inclined to say we got the better end of the deal now becausea) Carvalho's form and consistency improved a lot after Gallas went b. Wenger stupidly made Gallas captain (and even more stupidly kept him as captain) and it has shown up all his weaknesses. a) means we have missed him less than we expected to and b. makes it easier to say he wasn't all that great after all. Ask me now, and we definitely got the better deal, because Cashley has been brilliant, has shown his world class ability, and has cleaned up his game. Meanwhile Billy is in the gutter. We may have gotten one of the best fullbacks in the world, and not even missed one of the best centre halves, but who among us cannot whistfully say they dont miss the human wall that was JT and Billy G? When those two were together, on form, nobody could score, let alone beat us. What was the record they had at the heart of defense? Anyway, Gallas went sour like old milk and Riccy's form has matched and exceeded that which was expected when Jose first called him "the best CB in the world". I too called it stupid to displace Gallas at the cost of Bridge to accomodate Riccy. After a little shuffle, I see how wrong I was Edited October 3, 200816 yr by TheWestwayWonder
October 3, 200816 yr Just looked at his wikipedia page  sounds like it was written by a gobby gooner as its laden with half truths trying to make us look bad (ex. Khalid Boularouz's signing helped push Gallas out at Stamford Bridge)

Khalid Boularouz's signing helped push Gallas out at Stamford Bridge) Complete bollox. Boula was signed to replace Gallas who'd already demanded a move and wasn't going to agree to play for us again. He's been trying to leave for months and had supposedly refused to play in the FAC SF v Liverpool at OT, but was persuaded to (and gave away the Garcia goal with a poor header).

What was the record they had at the heart of defense? It was something like 3 conceded in 18 games, which must be the best of all time. But let's not forget that we haven't lost a league game with JT and RC for nearly two years (Dec 06?). I'm pretty sure that's correct, and if it is it deserves to be as famous as our 4 year unbeaten home record. Can anyone confirm it?
October 3, 200816 yr That sounds about right Backbiter as Carvalho didn't play against Arsenal or Man Utd last seaosn when we lost and before that I think the last game we lost was against Liverpool when we had no centre halves at all so we are going way back in the 2006/07 season.
October 3, 200816 yr Personally, I missed a few good opportunities to score, and I could have done better. At least he's honest. I really hope that he does well, he seems like a nice guy. But it is not secret that I play better alongside another striker, particularly with Didier Drogba in a 4-4-2.Hopefully I'll have some more chances do so!" So much for those chances... :D

Spot on Loz. I didn't have much confidence in Riccy to start, and always wanted JT and Gallas to pair in the defence as we were unbeatable with them. Now, it has completely changed. Riccy is solid and reliable and him and JT have as good a partnership as any. Add one of the best - if not the best RB in the world - in Bosingwa, the best LB in the world in Ash, and we have the best defence in the world. No doubt about it. Then we have cover for all the positions in Alex, Ferreira, Belletti, Ivanovic and Bridge. Not bad going in all honesty. The best midfield in the world is ours. All we need is a young, solid strikeforce and we're in business. I'm a happy chappy :D

October 4, 200816 yr Yeah, but we still have 5 years of Lamps left... Bring up a few reserves + youths ;)
October 5, 200816 yr plokoon, of subject but whats your avatar? i recognise it but cant figure out why. It's a little-known Jedi called Plo Koon. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Plo_Koon
