Following Our Nearest And Dearest Rivals 2026/27
. ! From the Guardian vvvv "Under pressure from the big clubs, who wanted to keep more of the takings from their home crowds, gate-sharing was first to go, in 1983. Now, the club with the biggest stadium, Manchester United, has a huge advantage over all the others. The big clubs gobbled the TV cake throughout the 1980s; in 1985 they threatened to break away, forcing the smaller clubs to agree a new split: 50 per cent to the First Division, 25 to the Second, 25 to the Third and Fourth. Still they wanted more, and in 1990, flush with Dyke's promise of TV riches, they deputed David Dein of Arsenal, and Noel White, a Liverpool director, to approach the FA and see if they would support their breakaway."

I am surprised we never made a move for Angelo Stiller. Ticks a lot of boxes.

Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea
I'm hoping at this point it's just a question of Quenda's recent injuries making Alonso hold him back a little. Gittens should've been dealt with this summer, but with his long absence I can see why Alonso tried to see him firsthand before eventually shipping him out in January.

Scott is another all action midfielder. We need control in midfield, isn't this why Alonso wanted Xhaka? James isn't the answer for me because I think he lacks the off ball understanding of playing that role.

We should have accepted the loan offer from Roma and kept Mudryk. I do worry a bit that if Gittens is getting game time and Quenda is getting left out of the match day squad, how sh*te is he?

Malo Gusto to Chelsea
You’re all too harsh on the lad, he’s not totally useless. He can always be used as a bad example.

How does Gusto keep getting picked ahead of this guy?

Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager
Everything is coachable to a certain degree, but to become effective at this level? Nope not at all. We go back to the evidence here: the absurd money spent on players looking for specific qualities and characteristics. If that wasn’t needed, then clubs and managers would simply select the cheapest players and coach them. It’s the same at youth level btw. I’ve followed countless of “the next ronaldinhos” just for them to fail even as professional footballers; players play to the level of their abilities no more.

Also remember when the big clubs in England demanded the removal of shared gate money for league games. Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton. Strange how all this is forgotten.

The g14 group pushed a lot of this, they were created specifically to bully UEFA into shifting more of the European money their way, or they would go off and create their own competition. Utd and Liverpool were part of it, then Arsenal joined.

100% spot on Sconnie. It is that self-confidence, call it swagger if you want, and also some natural agression are absolutely vital for any footballer to make it to the top. You mention RLC and I'd agree. CHO was another. He had the confidence, but not one ounce of natural agression.

Silvio Berlusconi also drove the European Cup changes when his Milan were knocked out early one year.

BlueCo buy Chelsea FC
You’ve just discovered why your hypothetical situation can’t work. When we signed Sanchez we didn’t know; a) how dreadful he really was b) the existence of the other keeper
-
Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea
It was no coincidence that his game lifted when he had Reece for company in the second half.

So at the time sanchez was signed he was good than the cape verde keeper? Or it just happened that you didnt know the cape verde keeper even existed?

Mistakes aside, he needs a proper midfield partner - he can't control midfield on his own and is more of a passer. But that's good, I hear it's an important part of the game. Should work well with Caicedo, not really sure about how it'll be with Lavia. I see why he wouldn't be trusted yet with a game like Arsenal, but hopefully in time. Leeds are a very tall and physical team.

Can't root for either team. I hope they both lose. !

The European Cup was originally a straight knock out competition with no seeding. . One season United ( who were the big draw for TV audiences) got knocked out early by Galatasery. EUFA and the TV broadcasters weren't happy. Then it was changed to a season of a 4 team mini league followed by another 4 team mini league before a knockout phase. All this was to minimise the chance of the " big" teams being knocked out. This latest league phase is just another way to protect those teams and provide a Super League.

So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!
The guy’s a piece of sh*t. Costing him the title and allowing Leicester to win the league was a beautiful moment.

He’s a stupid typical Argentinan c**t. Didnt complain when his player had his red card rescinded by the orange man
