Wesley Fofana at Chelsea *Official*
Right footed defender playing on the left to deal with left footed players cutting inside. What does he do with Havertz in the first half. Oh yes shows him inside and allows him all the time in the world to shoot. Nice one Wes.

And Arsenal have got a Champions League game away to Napoli during the week. Didn't seem to be on their minds today at all

Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager
OK, that's a fair point. Let's see how he uses this loss to move us forward.

Most of the goals we have conceded so far have been because of playing ghosting in behind then and them not tracking their men. There has to be some defensive discipline, even in the box to box midfielder.

Why can’t Palmer or Roger’s play in that Role, especially Palmer who come deep anyway
-
Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager
Why? I'm done with managers and coaches playing up to the cameras. Why does he need to show you, me or anyone outside of the dressing room what his thoughts are. The reputation of people should be built on their actions not on soundbites made to a fickle press.

The Mourinho Netflix Documentary
Im enjoying the documentary, im on the last episode when he goes to Real. Pretty clear that Jose peaked 2003-2010. After that was a decline / football moved on. Always disappointed me that Jose never really built a proper club over a long period of time. He always said that he wanted to win the title in England, Spain and Italy and then do a long stint somewhere. He never managed to do it. He just burns people and clubs out.

Why not try playing Palmer or Roger’s as the attacking midfielder behind Pedro and play Steveo up front

No different than Raya for ours.

Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager
Pleased with the performance overall and we competed with them properly for the first time in the blue Co era (which is scandal in itself). When you compare it to last year under Resenoir where we were scared to attack until 75 mins, Alonso has bought us a good way forward. We know there’s areas for improvement but we were good for a draw.

I do agree with you, but so much comes form belief and confidence, or the current lack of for us. Arsenal are supremely confident at the moment, they are riding high off of their title win, they only brought in two additional players (one of which was somewhat enforced) which have both slotted into the pattern. Always was going to be a tough ask. If we had of had Liverpool or Man City in that game today we could have given them a bloody nose, because they are also finding their feet. Beat Liverpool, beat Man City and that belief and confidence that we are on the right track would come flooding through us. We have another chance on Wednesday. Yes its only the Carabou cup but it Leeds United and recently we have so often been the southern softies, pussying out, when clubs like Leeds come after us. We need a strong performance and a significant win that breathes that confidence and belief into the team. Then we can start gaining some momentum.

Went with Stevie - needs more minutes. Nice save or he equalizes late for us.

Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager
We may make official agreements in jànuary. But no one ŵill join until the start of the net transfer window. Yes we are weak in defence and midfield, but give Alonso a chance to at least work something out. This game came far too early in the season, we were never going to be really up and running until maybe october november. They are still trying to gel as a team, somethings are more advanced than others. But as things improve a bit more, they'll get better at playing together. Contrary to what others think, the only difference between Sanchez and Martinez is confidence. Lets hope some of Martinezs rub off on the defence.

Putting in a run of good results is very rarely possible when the team is leaking a minimum of 2 goals per game.

Aye, damage. It remains to be seen what not recruiting some actual midfield options does to our results between now and next year. If Caicedo is back soon to his very best, and Henderson roles back the years then, for mostly 1 game a week we may be absolutely good and in a title race with the top four looking nailed on. However if Moi is out long term, or we get him back and he is as poor as he has been this year, Henderson comes in and looks like he should have retired already and we are left with James and Lavia then you can bank on us dropping plenty of points and be facing a struggle to be relevant in the second half of the Season.

Damage? It's game 3. We lost to the best side in the country away from home. I doubt we pick up anyone in January. But right now the team is good enough to finish top 4. And it's good enough to beat every other side.

Pre-Match Predictions 2026/27 - Week 3 - Arsenal (Away)
Ah just one two too many!
-
Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager
How much damage will be done before January? You can also best believe neither Alex Scott nor Adam Wharton are up for grabs in January either and they are the two players we want apparently.
-
Reece James
Yup. Am not sure who I fault more, him or Lavia. Lavia is an actual midfield player so should know to watch runners, but Reece is a defender so again that should be his instinct. As I said in the match thread is Enzo had just allowed odegaard to do that...

BlueCo buy Chelsea FC
Amen @PloKoon13 . Game 1 after the window closed and we got the second round of "we have got internal solutions" briefs from BlueCo. How did that work out today? The wingback we signed is being kept out of the team by a LCB. The midfielder you brought through Strasbourg via Brighton is being kept out of the side by not 1 but 2 right backs. How did those 2 "internal solutions" do against an actual world class midfielder in Declan rice? Arsenal could bring on Merino, Zubimendi and Bruno Guimaraes who are all much better midfielders than James, Lavia and Gusto will ever be. BlueCo have screwed over another manager, and all of us, with their incompetence, again. We best get over this game fast, we must raise our standards reguardless of our issues, and we must beat Leeds, Hull and Brentford before the break.

Amen to that mate. What did Raya have to do today? Not a lot. Should have done much better on our goal Imo. He was asleep, probably as it was off a set piece and they are normally so easy for Arsenal. People making out the save from Estevao was a top save, it was right above him! Only short arms kepa let's those type of shots in! He could have pulled out a deck chair the rest of the game. Martinez save from, saka I think it was, was far more difficult than anything Raya faced. And our defending. While of course Martinez has to save Havertz goal what are we doing showing him inside and just allowing him to come in as far as he wants and have a free shot? Where is the will to keep clean sheet? to throw yourself in the way so Martinez does not even have a save to make? Where is that desire? We have 3 cbs as well as James and Lavia on the pitch and Odegaard can just jog, not sprint, jog through our team and have all the room in the world around the penalty spot to beat Martinez?! I think some have said it was a good team goal from Arsenal. Are you joking? Imagine if Enzo let Odegaard go like that what the reaction would be? Odegaard is alike watching molasses move.
