On raw talent, Laporte is the best defender produced since Thiago Silva and should have been a nailed-on starter alongside Raphael Varane for France for a decade. Only problem is he would fit perfectly with our troupe of sicknotes and perma-crocks. Multiple knee injuries and playing in the PL wrecked his body, and if he struggled getting through a full PL season in his prime I doubt we'd get much mileage out of him at 32.

He can always be used as a bad example.
