Tbh I think it was Willian who was picked instead of Batman. No way should Willian be in the team instead of Pedro.

Conte has been fantastic and I'm not going to judge him tactically for a second, we got the three points which is brilliant. However, no matter which way you spin it, that was humiliating for Bats at the end, unintentional or not, it makes me wonder, is he sending a message to the board, he isn't my player. It's not nice seeing talent go to waste, so I hope for him he leaves on loan, though given our patience with some players, who knows, maybe permanently. I hope we're lining up a replacement, because it may have worked today, but playing without a recognised striker is hardly ideal.

I reckon Conte doesn't watch youtube 'best skill and goals' compilations to get the information he needs about who to play.

Conte is a manager in the italian mould - Never Lose - everything else is a bonus. Conte was a world class player at the highest level and is now a top manager and a mature man. I reckon he knows a thing or two about what it takes to be the real deal, and a few skills some goals and a cute haircut probably impress him about as much my version of Lasagne.

is he an improvement on willian and pedro? yes, probably. he's very much a ball to feet player though so if we are looking for a player who can run in behind then there are better potential options if we are about to spend a record fee on a player.
I don't think he's world class though- he's extremely talented but he has it all to do to prove he belongs in that company.
the best no.10 in the world doesn't watch 120 minutes of a champions league final from the bench. he is far from that at the moment.
he's done it in france and in portugal but I'd say he's disappointed in spain and lets face it, they bought him on the back of a few games in the summer of 2014.
I think it would be a fairly risky transfer. no doubting his ability though.

I don't particularly like him, I don't think he is what the system needs and I don't think his attitude is right. But as said above, if Conte wants him, I trust his judgement.

We'd be better off signing someone who could run behind and score. James is good no doubt, but he isn't what we really need right now more of a luxury signing. Better get someone like Sanchez or Griezmann who can run behind and score heaps with good workrate and could also dribble pretty well unlike James. I believe they wouldn't cost any much more than James's 75m?

It's almost as if you've not actually watched us play in the last 11 games. Goals win games so play fabregas, erm we've been scoring goals and winning games without it unless you hadn't noticed. As for kante going forward and leaving us exposed, 2 goals conceded in 11 games for f**ks sake.

Suburra looks interesting, I love a good gangster movie.
Saw 'Mr Nobody' the other night. It's about an old guy who's about to die and just happens to be last mortal human left alive (ageing has been 'cured'), and as he's laying on his death bed he recounts his life story to a journalist. However, for some reason he's able to remember multiple time lines where his life changed direction as a result of a few critical moments. It's very confusing but it's very well done, and it's good to see a film taking on high concepts such as multiple universes and chaos theory.

It has long been said that we ruin players and I have always contested that but other than youth you have to look and say we have taken players that do well before us they look sh*t for us then go off elsewhere and look good again, I've been watching kante and unlike some with rose tinted shades on he has look pretty poor last 2 games, what is it about Chelsea that can inhibit good players?
Im up in Scotland where I was born before moving to London as a young boy and I caught up with an old childhood friend who it turned out had been part of the Chelsea scouting system for 5 years, got his badges with us and was one of 3 scouts under the head scout for Scotland and the north of England, it was him that scouted Islam feruz which hasn't seemed to pay off but in his time he was esentially being trained, this started he said when big Phil was in charge. We discussed things like the scouting set up, how it operates etc, we have an extranet at Chelsea where you log in (after signing non disclosure agreements) and you can see every player that Chelsea has looked at, scout notes then head scout conclusion, technical director and finally the managers notes, all this was of course interesting.
He since moved on and when I asked why he wasn't a Chelsea fan he simply said they are arseholes to deal with and the set up is horrible to work in, he had been to cobham regularly and didn't have much good to say, I couldn't get as much detail as I wanted as we were not alone and limited time etc.
I'll follow this up and update when I can, but it seems there isn't an environment that is especially nice for employees or players when compared to other clubs, he said where we are strong is PR, all the young players, (he didn't have much to do with senior players) have teams of PR people who prep them monitor them, advise them on everything they do off the pitch etc, in that aspects developing young working class kids into professional individuals but not according to him in developing them as footballers as well as other top clubs.
Take from that what you will, maybe he is just disgruntled on a personal level because when I pressed him why he left he wasnt very forthcoming, our mutual friend later told me the reality was he wasn't quite good enough. However there could be truth to the fact as a club we don't offer the right environment off the pitch to create player loyalty and motivation as much as our rivals do.

I can understand people disliking Mourinho but I don´t really think all the hate he gets now is deserved.
No sane person can deny that winning the EPL comfortably with this current squad was a masterpiece of coaching. He made Matic look like the best midfielder in the EPL at times. Made Ivanovic and Cahill look decent. I am still unsure how he did that. He definitly made them overachieve. Yes we were in shambles at the start of last season but type of performances that we have seen since Hiddink and Conte have taken over are a true reflection of what this squad can do. Fight all season to get into the CL. Thats the ceiling at the moment.

And who's fault is that?  Certainly not his.  He's made the space, he's beaten his defender, yet he has to go back to Ivanovic?  Only 1 striker to aim fore?  No midfielders making a run because we play 2-3 DM's?

I don't think that is a Willian problem if I'm honest.

I sure as hell wouldn't, Willian was our best player last season and has has another good start to the season..Martial on the other hand has fallen below two teenagers in the United pecking order.

if we really want to consolidate ourselves as a mid table club we need to do things like this.

I finally see Conte's reservations about playing Cesc in the midfield. Today was a bad game for him and it might have suited Oscar better. Cesc was not given enough space to operate. The defense and pressing of Oscar might have helped make life a tad bit frustrating for Arsenal but Cesc was the wrong player for this game. Conte tried to move him upfield in the second half but that too did not work and had to be subbed. I think Cesc needs to start only against teams that give Chelsea space to play (Hull, CP etc).

Blaming Mourinho for KDB and Lukaku selling? Are you serious? Both players want to leave because they want to play first team football, not because Mourinho want to sell them

Why would a manager bow down to player's force to put them into starting 11? this need to be earn by the players, not by going into manager's office and say ' i need to start or i am leaving'

KDB went to a smaller team which guaranteed the start and work out, good for him, but what would happen if Jose just let them walk into the starting lineup? Every other player might do the same thing, this would be a disaster.

I finally got round to  watching Night and Fog tonight.  A simply brilliant film whose painstakingly beautiful commentary showed such restraint.

I know a lot about the Holocaust, have read Primo Levi's books about it, have visited Sachsenhausen, a concentration camp not far from Berlin, and have seen all the good fictional films about concentration camps. like The Boy in the Striped pyjamas, Escape From Sobibor, the Round Up, but Night and Fog is totally different.

Right from the beginning, when the narrator  points out that the construction of death camps was the same as the construction of any other public building - contractors put in bids, civil servants met to consider the plans, bribes were no doubt offered - you are conscious of the coldly scientific nature of the planning that went in to ridding Europe of the Jewish people.

I have never seen such intimate footage of the inmates as is shown here.  If anyone anywhere has any doubt that the Holocaust did indeed happen, they should watch this.

There was a film made for television a few years ago, Maksimov called "God On Trial" - if you haven;t seen it, I can send you a copy of it.  It is about a dormitory of Jewish prisoners waiting for death in Auschwitz,  who decide that God had abandoned them, and they put him on trial.  It is excellent, but not in the  same class as Night and Fog.
