Can't believe how far Newcastle have fallen since last year when they were so good. I inexplicably have a soft spot for Wigan so hope they don't go down, Not sure who I want to - usually on the last day I want all of them to survive when I see the montage on MOTD! I'm very susceptible to emotional manipulation!

This is one of those games where I start worrying early. By 7 o'clock or so on Wednesday my stomach will be churning and I think there'll be a few visits to the loo! Tbf the journalist refers to him earlier in the article as "Joe Cole" and it's usual in newspapers to not give the full name on subsequent references. Confusing if you don't read the whole thing though.

Davey - if you didn't post I'd have to try to sort my brain out and try to put it all into words which wouldn't sum up my thoughts nearly as well as you do. To be fair it's a funny old season isn't it? So many fans pissed off by Benitez and RDM etc and voting with their wallets and feet. And the Europa is never going to attract the same attention as the CL. But yeah, it's a bit embarrassing. I'm going for the first time for ages and, Benitez or not, I want us to win this. (but not at the expense of top 4 of course).

Surely the sensible thing would be to leave it until early next season for him to ref us again? Not at the tail end when everything's getting more tense?
