Agree that this lot are not doing the club or AVB at the time any favours by their actions in public. But most large businesses are run by a board of directors, and, if trusted, by the chairman, regardless of their knowledge, or lack of knowledge, in this case, about football, their opinion is likely to be accepted. Until we play a more direct style Nando is going to suffer. He thrives on the early pass, and we just do not play that way. Watching match of the day on saturday, and I know its only highlights, the two through balls played by Mata and Meireles are exactly what Torres has been looking for, its a shame he wasn't on the end of them. Time is ticking for Nando, and he needs to start scoring soon, Sturridge scores first game back, Anelka is still in the frame, DD is back soon, and Lukaku will also being looking for game time. Torres just needs one to go in off his knee or backside or however, then we may see a return to form for him, if not, he may be spending a lot more time on the bench.

My main problem with Modric coming is the effect it will have on Josh, he isn't get much of a chance now, and the arrival of another first team starter will reduce his chances even more. 40 million is way too much to pay, but, we have probably scared everyone else away from making an offer for him, unless citeh fancy another midfielder, or manure decide late on to go for him. There is no doubt that Modric's head has been turned, and the de-stabilising effect on spuds should he move or not , will be a joy to watch. Are we all so sure that he will be the important piece of the puzzle that some are convinced of ? AVB has direct knowledge of Moutinho, and although he would be new to the EPL, maybe, he is the final piece in this transfer window. We will all know one way or the other by 11 tomorrow night.

AVB has a reputation for meticulous planning, surely this is just a part of his master plan. Have no doubts that he has already identified his targets, but wants enough time to evaluate the current squad. All we should hope is that it is actually AVB who is making the decisions with regards to new acquisitions.

Was listening to him on 5 live the other day, he's supposed to have good contacts within the club, and reckons we will be signing 5 players in the summer, for between 100 and 150 million total. Anyone know if there is any truth in this ?

exactly mate, he was on a hiding to nothing. A first season that was unlikely to be repeated, injured players, the loss of too many seasoned pros, and little input on replacements. The truth is I think the squad seemed to lose motivation after a great start, one setback, against the barcodes seemed to snowball, resulting in our mid-season dip. Did the squad rediscover their mojo themselves, or, more likely, was it Carlo who inspired our recovery ? Once again we are unlikely to ever find the truth, but I'd like to thank Carlo for everything he did here and wish him good fortune in whatever he chooses to do in the future.

Regardless of what happened this season in what was the start of our transitional period, Carlo deserved to see out his contract. He may have found it difficult to make game changing tactical switches, but the double in his first season, was more than enough reward to justify a third year in charge. Whether Roman likes it or not, the only way we are truly going to challenge manure is by sticking by a manager, and building a dynasty, as rednose has.
