HazardsLeftPeg
Just seen the the BBC 'pundits' opinions on our chances this season. Also looking at some of the reactions on here following our summer, I thought it might be a good idea to have a poll just like last season to see the what the expectations are. I'm feeling quite optimistic as I do tend to at the start of every season, so I think we'll finish champions, but it could really be anyone between Us, City and United. Our only genuine rivals who have improved imo are City, and they still have Mancini and the whole Tevez cloud hanging over them. And here's something else the BBC pundits should consider: They forgot the biggest signing of all - Andre Villas-Boas. And this: f**k 'em all. Myles_91
2nd or 3rd, probably 2nd but the pessimist in me is saying 3rd, ah f**k it I'll go for 2nd
Bobbywoodhogan
I never bet against us but finish above United you win the league and they look very strong. But I say Champions.

The Moos
I think it will be between us, ManU and City. City have been getting stronger and stronger and they've bought some really good players (again). Could be their season now. United are always strong and I think the transfers they've made have improved their team. We have loads of quality and was probably only stopped by a s*itload of bad luck last season. If we can get Modric it will be a huge boost as well. On the other hand. City have so many players who will want to play so there can be trouble there and Mancini doesn't strike me as the perfect manager for them. And there's not many long serving players at City. Does anyone have a real heart for the team? United had a great and experienced keeper in VdS. Now they have a younger talent in De Gea. It might take time for him to fit in perfectly. He lacks experience as well. We lack certain things in our squad - such as a really creative midfielder and good wingers, not to mention a player who can actually put a cross in every now and then. And also a strong RB who can provide in our offence. We also have a new manager who isn't that experienced. Could be a success, or not. United is my number one right now. They have a habit of being able snatch those few points in close games that makes them champions. Few teams are as good at doing that as ManU. Even in games when they are two goals down and the clock reaches 90 minutes, I'm still not sure they will lose. They can still reach a draw. We have the ability to win the title, but after last seasons problems I'm more pessimistic than usual. I hope we will win (of course), but I'm not feeling to positive. City is a team with great players. The question is when they will become a real team. If Mancini can do that with the squad he has, then City will be really strong. Could win even. bjd
Right now, I'll say a clear 3rd. I think AVB will reinvigorate the squad but when push comes to shove the same defiencies will rear their heads. A couple of well thought out signings and I will change my opinion, so let's see... Anyway, back we start and I can't wait for every minute of every game. Edited August 12, 2011 by bjd

Elliott
I think we'll surprise a few, but still 2nd. I think United's squad has a better balance
sals
I would love to say first but i think this man u team is looking very strong. Definitely think we are more than capable of winning and i dont mind one bit that noone is giving us a chance. Think second is the most likely option though. Main reason I think we will finish above city is that although they have bought a tremendous player in aguero (dam he should be ours) they bought him to replace tevez and no matter how good he is this season i really cant see him being as important to the team as tevez was

HazardsLeftPeg
Anyone that says anything else other than Champions....what sort of Chelsea supporter are you? No need for that. As Chelsea fans, I'm sure all of us hope we finish champions. But to think otherwise, doesn't make you any less of a fan or a pessimist for me. The point of this thread is actually to give an unbiased opinion, and maybe we are the ones being a bit biased here.

Seriously?? i hate posters like this, sadly not out of character with some of your other posts. The poll wasnt who do you want to win the league it is where do you think chelsea will finish. Hutch
Anyone that says anything else other than Champions....what sort of Chelsea supporter are you? One with a perfectly valid opinion. Maybe you've misunderstood the question. Let's try again. If the question had been "where do you want us to finish this season" then you'd have had a point. The problem I have with a lot of these so called experts is that their predictions seem to me to be based either on what they want or what they think their readers want to hear. But it wasn't "where do you want... ", it was "Where will Chelsea finish this season?", or in other words, "Where do you think Chelsea finish this season?" Heart v Head. Everyone wants us to win the title, not everyone thinks we can. What's wrong with that?
Arq
I think we'll finish third. And of course, just so I'm not questioned, I want us to finish first. Utd look strong especially if DeGea can get rid of the jitters and get some experience. I have this feeling City is going to just slide ahead of us for second. dkw
I picked champions for 2 reasons. 1 - I want us to finish their... But more pertinently I can see Utd, Liveprool and Arsenal struggling to begin with this season due to changes in major positions for them. Utd have made signings, but have lost their keeper who has had a massive impact on their title challenges the last few seasons, and also Scholes and Neville from the squad and training. Those 3 will be massive misses not only on the pitch but off it. Arsenal, well Wenger is up to his usual tricks of pissing about signing child attackers while allowing his best players to leave and keeping that same shonky defence. Liverpool have signed average midfielders by the bucket load, and now the pressure is well and truly on Dalglish theres every chance they will capitulate under it. City though, now thats entirely different. Bringing in Aguero and a few squad players have seen them work the same way we do, evolution not revolution. I may be completely wrong of course. Zeta
Realistically? 3rd. Unless we make a couple of first team signings who really improve our starting 11. Man Utd were better than us last year and they have strengthened quite a lot in key areas (though it's important to note also that they have lost the experience of VDS, Giggs and Scholes). However, I just can't see anyone finshing above them. City are a bit of an unknown really. They have it all in place - fantastic players in basically all positions, big stadium, big growing support. But on the pitch they can still be a bit un[predictable. So I think whether we finish 2nd or 3rd depends really on how Mancini does with City. I can't see Arsenal or Liverpool or Spurs challenging for anything other than 4th this year.

dkw
Bluskies, Im not convinced Utd have strengthened all that much, or at least not that much for this season. The keeper could need a good 4 or 5 months to settle, and in that time the defence will be nervous after losing an organiser like VDS. Their centre mid is poorer last season as it stands, with only Young adding anything in the attack (though Im not sure hes any better than Nani and Valencia). Obviously all this is just supposition until the games get going and I might end up with egg on my face.

They also let go off O'shea and Brown and now the one recognized right back they have(Rafael) is out with a dislocated shoulder. I don't think they needed Young either with Nani and Valencia being clearly better and Park, Wellbeck and Cleverly good enough backup while the center midfield issues remain unaddressed. CFCCAN
Where will we finish......CHAMPIONS....Where do I think we will finish....CHAMPIONS...ask the Man U fans where they will finish....how many will say 2nd or 3rd?....ask a Man C fan where they will finish..you might get a few 2nd / 3rd responses.....as a Chelsea supporter for over 40 years, at the start of every year I believe that we will finish as CHAMPIONS....if we don't then it's a disappointment, but I am realistic to understand that things happen during the season that affect the outcome....ask the same question again at Christmas and see how many of the answers posted will change perhaps mine included. I among many others have been critical of this team over the years but that doesn't stop be believing that we can finish first in any competition. The' only concern I have this year is that the 'older' players maybe more prone to 'niggling' injuries as we get to half way; if everyone stays fit then we can win the PL which we should have won last year apart from that mid season lengthy slump. Utd were not that great..everyone else was just poor...us included for those crucial few weeks in which we dropped points in games that we should have easily won...but that's football and that's why we all love this game...and this team. abramovich
If we add quality players to problem areas before the end of August we may have a realistic chance for the title. If not, it's 2nd at best, but more likely 3rd.
