  1. Great stories, almost like an additonal chapter to Hooifan. For my tuppenceworth I can add a couple. Arsenal away on Boxing Day (1979?) was the best. I'd had a raging toothchache on Xmas Day and was looking forward to the match as I knew we'd go in force as it was the first time we'd played them after being promoted. My QPR mate (who hated Arsenal and still I drink with) came round and off we went. We got down to the Piccadilly Line at Earls Court and the platform was packed with the biggest, hardest looking mob I've ever seen, my mate was open jawed as these bloke were all mid 20's + (we were 18). The train came in and we got on and many red and white scarves got pushed behind the owners but the mob stayed on the platform and we carried onto Highbury and went into the Northbank. It was pretty early and while my mate was having a piss, slowly the Earls Court crew came through the turnstiles. We joined up with them as they came up the stairs and across the terrace we went with Arsenal legging it before us. Anyway we filled the whole back, held it for the whole game and we even had a wander through the Arsenal lot who suprised me by having a lot of skinhead revivalists amongst them. Two days later West Ham did the same to us and took the Shed. Next season we played Arsenal at Easter and had an even bigger mob there but couldn't get under the cover as we'd got there a bit later and ended up pushed to the side. Pre season friendlies were a laugh. One year we played Palace away and cleared the Holmesdale and ran them across the pitch. On the way back got to Victoria had a row with Arsenal who were playing in the Charity Shield that day. London friendlies could be iffy though and I got clobbered by Fulham of all teams despite being brought up there and knew who did it and many of their mob were Chelsea who didn't take kindly to our outsiders shi**ing on ther turf, ie wrecking Fulham Road after we lost 2-0 in the league a few years earlier. As previously mentioned the Div2 years were good and we had a lot of crews coming such as Cardiff, Plymouth Bristol City, etc. They never brought the same numbers the next season. Millwall away was hairy, great turnout by Chelsea who really went there and took it too them but we didn't stand a chance. Any ground where you can go from one end to the other climbing fences and not being stopped by the old bill is always going to be hard. Tottenham turned up in force the next year but did their usual of mobbing up at London Bridge and getting an escort and filling the Ilderton Road End and boasting about how many they'd taken there. We could have done the same, had just as many there but went for a row. I went to the famous Millwall v Ipswich quarter final that year and after speaking with a few Millwall, they admitted they respected us for what'd we'd done as no-one had ever had the bottle to go into the CBL and that we'd we'd run them out of the Shed End at home too.
  2. 2nd row, 2nd left next to the granny with glasses (she's probably only 25 in reality).....Shane MacGowan.
  3. Hats hats, hats and not a Burberry in sight.
  4. The back eight rows of the MH upper and also the first couple of rows all around the ground have to be empty according to EUFA regulations. Ignore everything you hear on Talksport from Spurs fans stating we couldn't sell out for a CL Semi (what would they know about CL football anyway) it's the rules.
  5. Taking (and holding ) the Northbank on Boxing day the previous year takes some beating too. I think that game was televised.
  6. I was in the North Stand for this one , Liverpool's support was pathetic as usual in those days. We finshed bottom and still took the Holte End long after being relegated.
  7. Neville Southall was always warmly applauded by The Shed and he always responded.
  8. Looks like the temporary seats we had at the Shed End!
  9. Before the match version..... There was a mighty battle there, in Mill, in Millwall One hundred thousand North Stand there, in Mill, in Millwall All the West Ham gathered round, in Mill, in Millwall Chelsea battered them into the grooooouuuuund, In Millwall, in Millwall After the match version..... There was a mighty battle there, in Mill, in Millwall One hundred thousand North Stand there, in Mill, in Millwall All the Shed Boys stayed at home....... Never to be sung again.
  10. I'm bu99ered if I can remember 'Boro coming onto the pitch. All I recall is the moment the matched ended the Shed end emptying out across the pitch towards the North Stand.
  11. 1975 I think, Sheffield Wednesday in the FA cup at home and 2-0 down. Hollins put a penalty over the bar and almost onto the railway lines but we came back to win 3-2. Mass fighting at the end and I had my scarf knicked by Fulham fans on the way home.
  12. I think the gasometers are listed though.
  13. Chucked off of Soccer AM. Manc supporting To55er.
  14. Boxing Day 1967 for me, a 2-1 win against Arsenal. Standing at the front of the North Stand in a puddle and barely able to see over the wall and through the poxy dog track fence. I can't remember anything about the match but the ground was packed. Matches were few and far between in those days and the only others I can remember going to up until I started going on my own in the Mid 70's were Wolves, Morton in the Fairs Cup, Rangers in a friendly, Ipswich with Webby in goal and the 13-0 Junesse win but there must have been others.
  15. No doubt another 6,000 daytrippers giving it the big one. Shame really as Burnley has always been the away ground I've liked the most and I've always had a (very little) 'soft spot'. Time to revive the Hovis tune.
  16. Talentless fu*kwit as far as I'm concerned and anyway where's he managing these days, fu*ked if I can remember he's that high profile? Never liked the c*unt.
  17. Ryanair are pretty good. You get what you pay for but it's best not to delay as every ticket sold ups the price of the next one available. The Stanstead express is cheaper than the Gatwick one although you can get a coach to Central London Victoria which is a lot cheaper.
  18. And there's me shouting out ZOLA everytime "Meet The Fockers" comes on the telly
  19. In court, defending little mickeys caught stealing from ships? stealing is theft , therefore is criminal law , not maritime law. ahhh the old myth of every scouser being a thief. I hate to burst your bubble but its just not true , in fact go and look for Liverpool in the top 10 robbery hotspots in the country , i can tell you now you wont find it. However our lovely neighbours , Manchester can be found somewhere near the top of it. I love the way the majority of the country seem to believe we are just a load of poverty stricken , deluded idiots. In some ways it benefits us because we just the 'poor scousers' so we are underestimated in everything we do , just like Liverpool are in the champions league , every year we start the competition at ridiculously high odds yet we've won it 5 times and have got to the semi finals 3 out of the last 4 years and to the final twice. In other ways , the stereotypical rubbish could be a problem. For example if i ended up having to relocate to London , id guess that id be one step behind all other applicants just on the basis that i dont sound right , in their opinion. But isn't stealing glorified in that song of yours "In our Liverpool Homes?"
