Diego Moreira didn't do much v Wrexham, why expect him to do anything tonight? Mediocre players, mediocre outcomes.

Cole Palmer signs for Chelsea!
Reminds me of Ziyech in the way he cuts inside, which isn't a bad thing given his age. Just hope he's ready to hit the ground running. Considering what we've spent could we have signed the likes of Diaby/Chiesa?

Cole Palmer signs for Chelsea!
A few quality goals and he's flavour of the month, don't rate him at all.
-
Axel Disasi *Official*
Did the first part well leading up to the goal, intercepting the pass, but then proceeded to give it away. Live and learn hopefully.

Chelsea v Luton (PL) Fri 25th Aug 2023 20:00 GMT
Like the look of Carlton Morris, can we sign him before Friday night? 😬
-
Conor Gallagher
Mugs if we let him go, one of the few midfielders who can actually score goals from midfield, and with Chukwuemeka/Nkunku injured we're severely lacking in that department.
-
Another Winger! - Noni Madueke
Reminds me of Nicolas Pepe, and that isn't a compliment. The difficulty with players like Mudryk/Madueke is they may need a run in the team to gain form/momentum - but how long will they need?
-
Carney Chukwuemeka
Can't be too critical about a 19 year old's marking at a set piece, you'd think one of Silva/Disasi/Colwill would be covering the back post. Impressive performance nonetheless.

Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"
Felt sorry for him, never easy for a midfielder to be asked to play at right back. If anyone's to blame it's Poch for bringing off Gusto.
-
Brennan Johnson
Seems he could be a good fit, he's no Federico Chiesa but arguably Forest's best player last season and I'm not overly confident we're a goal threat on the right flank.
-
Romeo Lavia
Just seen that, result! 🤣

Romeo Lavia
Still has a lot to prove he's up with there with the likes of Caicedo, Bellingham, Tonali, Tchoumeni, etc. For me it's only a good signing if we sign Caicedo.

So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!
A positive start, we look a team that can be competitive against top opposition. Question remains if we can put so-called 'lesser opposition' to the sword. If we can get the defence right I feel we could have a good season, Newcastle last year would be good benchmark.
-
Ian Maatsen
Harsh maybe but he didn't offer anything, didn't hold up the ball, didn't create chances. Elliott looked a threat and is only 20.
-
Carney Chukwuemeka
Dodgy start but grew into the game and linked up well - in the position he plays needs to be a goal threat.
-
Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea
Linked up well with Reece first half, that's the only positive.
-
Ian Maatsen
Looked a bit out of his depth, not sure what his best position is.
-
Nicolas Jackson - striker
Did alright, hopefully with more minutes he'll be more clinical with the finish. Just hope he stays fit/avoid getting kicked in the balls, no Jackson/Nkunku would put us in a difficult position.

Bashir Humphreys
Played some cracking forward passes v Dortmund, looks like he can also play as a DM or RB/LB?

We've got a new Kepa
- Where will we finish in the league 23/24 ?
In terms of CL qualification I think our only saving grace this season will be if the leading pack doesn't break away (which going by preseason looks a possibility) and we can put a decent run together. Conversely however I still think we may struggle to break away and be part of the relegation scrap (with all the change and inexperience are we really any better than Fulham/Brighton/Nottm Forest?) - Where will we finish in the league 23/24 ?
