January 21, 200916 yr Inter and Citeh apparently are both after him.source I feel like were being raided all of a sudden. Maybe that's the signals we're sending out by saying we're not buying anyone. Therefore maybe people assume we're strapped for cash and given the quality players we have see an opportunity to come in and make bids for them.
January 21, 200916 yr And were interested in.... , well, nobody . Whats this guy like? What I've seen of him he looks pretty good. can't be much worse than richard f**kig Dunne.
January 21, 200916 yr He is quality bluemoon - or at least he will be if he got a good long run as a first team player. I would be gutted to see him leave as I think he has a superb future ahead of him. However he is never going to be a regular for us with JT and Carvalho ahead of him and so it would not surprise me at all if he wants a move. However we should demand top dollar for him. Personally I would demand £20m for him - especially as you guys are clearly happy to spend big.
January 21, 200916 yr I'd prefer to keep him before Alex. Hope he doesn't go as he can fill in right along the back line.
January 21, 200916 yr Author Man City have f**ked themselves in the transfer market, not that they need to be stingy, but now everyone knows theyll be spending 12m on just about anyone, they wont be able to strike a decent deal with any club, and everyone will take advantage of them. Though they probably dont care.
January 21, 200916 yr Good player, but rather he go than Alex. I think there is little between them at CB but think Ivanovic better cover at RB. In saying that we do have Ferreira and Belletti.
January 21, 200916 yr The big difference between Alex and Ivanovic (other than versatility) is pace. Ivanovic has some, Alex doesn't. That is the key reason I prefer Ivanovic.
January 21, 200916 yr Ivanovic is the future. It would be criminal to sell him now without giving him a proper chance. I'm going to be very unhappy if that happens. I'd dump Alex before him, no question. I think Big Phil is a bit biased towards the Brazilian. Alex's form has been quite poor lately but he keeps playing him. I can understand if Ivanovic is getting frustrated.
January 22, 200916 yr If we are to sell one of our CB's I'd prefer it to be alex. Ivan has shown his pace and versatility more than Alex has, although (until recently) Alex had shown his dependability
January 22, 200916 yr I'd keep Ivanovic but not because of pace or becaue he has a great long pass. Rather its his judgement under pressure which already looks good. The great defensive players are the safe ones. They do the right thing nearly all the time. Don't give away too many stupid free kicks, are in the right place at the right time etc. I think Ivanovic looks good on those measures from what I've seen. Quite strong as well. We don't need Alex, Ivanovic Mancienne, Terry and Riccy though. So we could let one go. For my money it would be Alex.
January 22, 200916 yr No need to jump into any silly transfers regarding Ivanovic until we see what J.T. does in the summer . If we end up with bugger all and City slap in a 40 mill bid for him, he'll be off , ive no doubt about and a lot will depend on who our manager is too.
January 27, 200916 yr Fiorentina now linked with him http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11854_4857881,00.html If we entertain letting him go and allowing the fee to be reduced by having Manuel Da Costa thrown in then we should be ashamed. I am hoping this is just another rumour made up by an agent as if Scolari does actually rate Costa then he hhas a trip to the funny farm ahead of him!

I am hoping this is just another rumour made up by an agent as if Scolari does actually rate Costa then he hhas a trip to the funny farm ahead of him! Don't know anything about Da Costa, but if the fee (including Da Costa) is good enough then we might as well sell Ivanovic since he, apparently, wants to go to Fiorentina. But I've got to admit that all this talk about players going and knowing that few (if any) will join us is getting a bit unnerving. Bridge gone and both Alex and Ivanovic seems to want to go. Gonna leave us with a very, very thin squad. Or is Scolari trying to gamble and selling 4-5 players to buy one big star? Bridge + Alex + Ivanovic + Malouda(?) = Aguero or Messi? P.S. Just looked up Da Costa and it seems like he might be a young talent. There have been some big teams looking to sign him. Not that it proves anything though.
January 29, 200916 yr http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Footba...ina/gnid-37789/ Fiorentina may learn on Friday whether they will be successful in their bid to sign Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. The player's agent, Vlado Borozan, has revealed that a five-year deal has been agreed in principle with the Viola but that they are now awaiting the say-so from Chelsea. Borozan remains hopeful a deal can be reached with The Blues, despite the previous pessimism of Fiorentina's sporting director Pantaleo Corvino. "The deal is at a decisive phase and by tomorrow [Friday] we will know how it will finish," Borozan told Sky Italia. "My partner [Marko Naletilic] will be in London tomorrow to talk further with Chelsea. "We have already reached an agreement in principle with Fiorentina for a five-year contract." Ivanovic has made only intermittent appearances for the Chelsea first team since joining The Blues for £9 million from Lokomotiv Moscow in last January's transfer window.
January 29, 200916 yr Setanta news desk just announced that they think a deal will go through tomorrow taking Ivanovic to Fiorentina
January 29, 200916 yr What was the purpose of buying him a year ago in the first place? To have another benchwarmer? He is a very talented player, still very young and eager to prove himself. Nothing is making sense anymore.
January 29, 200916 yr What was the purpose of buying him a year ago in the first place? To have another benchwarmer? He is a very talented player, still very young and eager to prove himself. Nothing is making sense anymore. to be fair, one of him and alex needed to leave, and while I think that maybe should have been alex, mancienne is just as versatile as ivanovic. furthermore, the guy wasn't signed by scolari- when a club changes it's manager certain players always fall through the cracks- when he was signed and how much he has played are thusly irrelevant. in fact- the fact it is the more expensive and more recent signing of the two sits contrary to the idea that kenyon or arnesen or whoever is signing the players. it's a shame it looks like he'll leave, but if it means mancienne gets an opportunity and scolari keeps the player he wants to keep, then those are good things.
January 29, 200916 yr I like all our CB options but would say it makes some sense to have Alex and Terry as the less pacy solid options and Mancienne and Ricky as the more nimble options. I'm sure the manager has thought hard about which he would let go if one needs to be sold.
January 29, 200916 yr to be fair, one of him and alex needed to leave, and while I think that maybe should have been alex, mancienne is just as versatile as ivanovic.furthermore, the guy wasn't signed by scolari- when a club changes it's manager certain players always fall through the cracks- when he was signed and how much he has played are thusly irrelevant. in fact- the fact it is the more expensive and more recent signing of the two sits contrary to the idea that kenyon or arnesen or whoever is signing the players. it's a shame it looks like he'll leave, but if it means mancienne gets an opportunity and scolari keeps the player he wants to keep, then those are good things. The thing is Scolari himself has a TWO YEAR contract. Even in a best case scenario he won't be here long. So what's good for Scolari right now may not be a good policy for the club long term. It's not as if he cares what happens here after he's gone. We are buying past his prime Deco and extending Ballack's contract while selling the likes of Ivanovic, I'm not sure I understand the logic behind this policy. Edited January 29, 200916 yr by abramovich
January 29, 200916 yr he might not make the end of those two years, he might extend beyond that- scolari can only do what he believes will best help the club succeed, and the club can only do as much as possible to assist him in that. deco and ballack are irrelevant- they are not defenders- the fact scolari has recalled mancienne back into his squad hopefully means something, and we have 5 center backs. the difference in age between alex and ivanovic is not massive, and jt and carvalho are clear first choice players.
