bjd Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 ...in training. Sure I picked this up on the radio. Anyone else heard this?
Nibs Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Heard Jason Cundy talking about this yesterday. It was a friendly reserve match on Monday which we won 4-1 and Di Santo scored a cracker, but Kakuta apparantly fractured his left ankle and will probably be out for rest of season. Gutted, as I was hoping he'd break into first team action at some point and Cundy thought he probably would too. Bad timing as it would have been great if Hiddink saw him and thought he'd give him a go. Lets hope he's fully recovered by beginning of new season.
zola0408 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 ...in training. Sure I picked this up on the radio.Anyone else heard this? yep. could be out for a year. "Young Chelsea midfielder Gael Kakuta faces a year on the sidelines after breaking his leg and ankle in training. (Daily Mirror)" - from BBC Sport's Gossip Column. horrible, get well soon gael
Orangutan Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) BBC has it up on their Wednesday gossip column. Ah, I see I was beat to the punch. Unfortunate news. Maybe Hiddink would have thought about actually using him. Edited February 11, 2009 by Orangutan
Mr Chelsea Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 its a shame as an injury like that will delay his development
PloKoon13 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Hopefully he'll come back hungrier than ever... but I can't say I have high hopes now. I doubt he'll play a first-team game for Chelsea.
ivorycoast Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 this is the worst possible news. get well soon son.
Blue Sun Tzu Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Just when we needed some kind indication that our future looked brighter this happens. It seems that Gael Kakuta, many of our hopes for the future, has suffered a horrific injury during a behind-closed-doors friendly. Kakuta suffered a broke leg and a broken and dislocated ankle. It`s feared that Kakuta could now miss a whole year of his career as embarks on a long and painful road to a full recovery.
Benji Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Wow thats not what i wanted to read when i got back from work. Katuka looked great when ever i saw him, He could of had a few games this season in the first team i thought. I hope he gets better asap a year is to long for a young lad to be not playing football.
geezer Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 The only plus out of this is it has happened whilst he is so young hopefully meaning the injury will heal quicker and he can come back even stronger than he was. Remember Ossie had a bad leg break quite early in his career albeit when he was a couple of years older than Gael and he didn't do too badly for us did he?

heckel Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 f**k, bad news, let's hope a year out will give him mental strength and he'll come back raring to go, with maturity as well. Good luck Gael

That's pretty good news really. Eduardo seems to be getting back pretty quickly at the arse too after a similar injury so hopefully this is merely a hiccup in a very promising career.
goose Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 That's really bad luck on the kid. Hopefully he can get over this injury fully and quickly and be good a fresh to post a bid for the first team in the new season.
mad_mac Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Damn it, was just watching some youtube clips of Gael. Thought Hiddink might use him, at least from the bench, but not going to see him again this season. I suppose what we can hope for is for him to come back strong in the summer and impress whomever is in charge then!
dustbin00 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Tough, Tough blow. The mental side is possibly harder to recover from than the physical side. Get well soon!
Jimboola69 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 A great talent. I see him and Woods getting a few run outs next season.
