Fitzy89 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 What an interview by Guus. The man is an absolute legend for keeping his composure that just shows how much character the man has ang i think we should do everything in our power to keep him as our manager. :P
Fitzy89 Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 He was just so calm and didnt really give out about the referee but he just stated the facts like how there was not one but four clear penalty claims and that they werent even doubtful like they were so clear and the he was sayin that it didnt matter because we should have scored before that anyway and then he was just defending the players for what they apparently did after the match and how disgraceful they were. The man is an absolut legend for the way he composed himself
The pride of London Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I have no idea how he could have kept so calm and even better that he did not say anything he would regret.
PloKoon13 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Is there anything he doesn't have? Tactics, class, nice suit...
icecoolguy22 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Come on Roman! Stuff Russia and their World Cup Campaign, pay out his contract and get Hiddink as our manger now! Seriously, there is no reason why he can't do 2 jobs at the same time, the collision is minimum. We aren't going to get Jose back, this man is as good as there is out there!
PloKoon13 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer Hiddink to Mourinho... He's less of a prick, that's for sure. Although I would have liked to have seen the tantrum Mourinho would have given after that travesty.
Luckydevil Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 In my dreams there is always the situation that at the end of the season Roman will tell us that Guus is staying. I really can't see why he should not manage us and the Russians at the same time. There only a few qualifiers left to play. I would be more than happy to keep him. He is a gentleman through and through he gives the team spirit and nearly brought us into the final (where we definately should be thanks again UEFA).
mad_mac Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Class act! No way Jose would have been so calm, he'd be saying the ref was in their dressing room at half time
MHedges Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) Maybe it's just me, but I've never been more gutted as a Chelsea fan than I was tonight - correction - never been more gutted in my LIFE than I was tonight. Please Roman...make this season a success for us and find a way to keep Hiddink...PLEASE. We deserve more than just the FA cup opportunity, we deserve long term stability! PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN! If only Chelsea could come out tomorrow and say they Hiddink is signing a contract with us, the pain would be so alleviated. Edited May 7, 2009 by MHedges
friendly-rivalry Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 he is a top manager, and i'll bet that there are a lot of fans of your rivals really hoping that he and roman havent been telling porkies this season and he is actually staying. A top manager, and clearly a very good man to go with it. Doesnt quite suit you for some reason! lol.
BLUENUT Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Hiddink came across well, but I'd have loved to hear what Jose had to say on the ref's performance
TheWestwayWonder Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Im sure Jose will have something to say about this, assuming Moratti doesnt gag him on the issue. "His" Chelsea were screwed again, and Barcelona given the advantage just as happened under him twice before. Anyway, the topic at hand? Guus is one the best managers in the world. This was something most of us knew before he got here, but now that he has done it in the big chair here, I dont think a doubter remains. This ship finally has a captain who knows exactly how to handle her Beg, plead, anything, but get him here on a long term contract. Sign him up for 10 years if he will have it. Give him total control over transfers, and we will see a team that has the brains and the braun to sweep all comers within a season. Domestically and in Europe.
WV2 Blue Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I thought Hiddink was terrific with his comments after the match....clear & concise, calm, collected etc...and backing the lads 100% no matter what... :) This guy has it all, Chelsea must keep this man at all costs...
BlueBeard Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Agree with everything said about Hiddink here, and Plokoon, I can only imagine Jose's reaction if he'd been in charge, but it would be worth paying to see! Next problem Hiddink has is getting the team to focus on the next game against Arsenal - I just hope they won't still be too distracted, it's an important match.
The pride of London Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) Jose would have had a 10 minute rant about the ref. I think that maybe Hiddink will stay on because of the Barcelona "game" . Maybe he has taken the game to heart. Does anybody else think he'll stay? Edited May 8, 2009 by The pride of London
blizeH Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I hope he stays! Can't think of anyone I'd want more, the guy oozes class and is clearly brilliant at both tactics and motivation. Players who looked poor under Scolari (Malouda, Drogba, Ballack etc) are all doing superbly now, and as far as I'm concerned, he got the tactics perfect against both Liverpool and Barca, just unlucky at the end of the day. If we can't get him to stay permanently? Not sure who I'd go for. Mourinho or Martin Jol are probably the main two, but other than that? Definitely not Ancellotti, and definitely not Rijkaard please.
PloKoon13 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 If we get anyone who isn't Hiddink... we're settling for second best. He's the only man I can see winning us the league next year.
Tim Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I agree. I really don't get excited by any of the other options and Guus has more than won me over since he took charge. I just don't see how we can make it happen. One thing's for sure, those going to the remaining games, home or away, need to make it abundantly clear how much we want him to stay. Chants, songs, banners, whatever, let's make sure Roman and Co are very clear on what the fans would like to see. Whether they listen.....who knows, but they can't be too unhappy with how Guus has performed either.

Lofty Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 i agree. its a shame 'you can stick ancelotti up your arse' doesnt work as a song you can stick your ancelotti up your arse or you can stick that ancelotti up your arse or even, with just a lttle more efffort: you can stick carlo ancelotti up your arse Sorted.
mez Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 In the UK papers today Guus has again said that he will categorically not be with Chelsea next year. Next year's UEFA Championship final will be in Madrid (we will be in it don't you know!). Just hope whoever our manager is next season - speaks English - has knowledge of the EPL and managing a club of the magnitude of Chelsea, and playing in UEFA knock out stages, semis, finals etc. Someone the players can respect, and is not just a front man. Ancelotti... how long will it take him to speak fluent English for a start! Mez
BlueBosnian Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Hiddink: It'll be hard to leave BluesChelsea coach Guus Hiddink admits he will find it 'tough' when he departs Stamford Bridge at the end of this season as he has 'loved' the job. The Dutch coach has impressed since taking over from Luiz Felipe Scolari in February and could still end his short time in charge on a high when the club face Everton in the FA Cup final on May 30. Hiddink is then set to resume sole charge of Russia, despite reports that he could stay on as manager at Stamford Bridge. The former PSV Eindhoven boss said in the Guardian: "It'll be tough to leave it all, that's true. "I love to work with this club. I'm not defending where they crossed the line but the way the boys reacted against Barcelona (in the Champions League) shows that there is such a very strong desire and personality in this team. "They like to fight for their chances. I've worked with them with a lot of joy." He continued: "I've enjoyed working with this team. The players here aren't just enjoying a good life, putting their feet up in luxury. "They want to perform at a big club. That makes it very enjoyable and difficult to leave. I feel as if I've been intrinsically involved with this club. "I could have come here and just gone through the motions, done a daily routine, for three months. But that's not the way I like to work. "Okay, sure, you don't feel as if you're a part of things on day one but I had that after a week here. In the end, though, we part. That's just how it is. Let's not be too dramatic. That's life." :)
