Posted June 16, 200915 yr right, ive just had an argument with a dipper over the glenn johnson deal. he said it was beter for liverpool because the price wont really be £19 million as they are still owed £7 mill from the crouch. i tried to show him the error of his ways by telling him even if they pay 12 million for Johnson and write off the 7 million owed, the cost is still 19 million because you don't get that 7 million back. you arent saving any money as you will never recieve the £7 mill still owing. so they are still paying £19 mill which is way too much for him. but he just wouldnt have it, he said no the 7 mill will be used to pay for johnson so they would only end up paying 12. check on forums and they all think this, are they seriously this dumb or just deluded?
June 16, 200915 yr Jeez! Some people are incredibly thick when it comes to numbers. I have friends who come over to visit me who insist that the cost of living in France has soared, because obviously with the fall in the value of the pound they are getting less euros for their money. So they translate everything into sterling and say it's gone up by 25% since their last visit to France. I simply can't get it through to them - AND one of them is a retired bank manager. So God knows how he got his job!
June 16, 200915 yr yea it's not the same as the ronaldo deal where madrid are effectively only paying 54 million (if the reports of the 26 million agreement with ronaldo are to be believed)

Just tell him it means they sold Crouch for £3m.
June 16, 200915 yr Try explaining that they would have got him alot cheaper if a club with 5 right-backs already hadn't got into the bidding war. I Hope our only interest was to push the price up for Liverpool
June 16, 200915 yr ...or tell him if he had 19 hub caps and he gave 7 to a mate to flog down the dole office but the mate had not sold them because their giro had been slashed he would still havel robbed 19 of hub caps He should get then

June 16, 200915 yr Scousers are obviously thick as sh*t, but they seem to take a pride in it. I'm sure they've also got some kind of warped class warfare thing going on in their heads - a scouser thinks you're a snob if you get out of the bath to take a dump.
June 16, 200915 yr Sitting in a bath tub is pretty much you floating around in your own filth anyway so if you're not bothered by that, why not take a dump in there as well? :D [runs and hides]

So God knows how he got his job! In this case I believe your friend is right. If your savings/earnings are in pounds and you pay for rent/food/shopping in Euro's, you cost of living has gone up given the fact that your are getting less goods and services for the same amount of money. If you are of course earning Euro's and spending Euro's, the pounds value is irrelevant to you.

June 16, 200915 yr Oh no. It really annoys me when people refuse to accept when they're wrong. And even when you show proof they'll still think that proof is wrong. Blech.
June 16, 200915 yr I love how they are trying to spin this deal. If they are really concerned about how much it costs right now, then it shows they are they are thinking in the short term about their accounts/money, so it must mean the pursestrings must be tight over at Anfield. If they are living at hand to mouth existence with their finances right now, it would make sense. A small part of me thinks maybe that is why Rafa went for this transfer. They can get Johno without having to front as much money as he would cost others. Or maybe he wants to make a splash now that Man Utd have bundles of money to spend. Who the feck knows whats going on in his mind Just tell him it means they sold Crouch for £3m. GREAT reply

It sounds to me like they're trying to convince themselves they've made a good deal when it's so damn obvious they haven't. To make matters worse, they've now spent 25 million pounds in consecutive transfer windows on subpar defenders. Actually, I'm not even sure Dossena's good enough to qualify as subpar. The key to all of this, though: thank God there's no truth to the rumor that Johnson was to sign for us.
June 17, 200915 yr I think that photo was taken in Dublin Have you have been there?..... ;) The place I mean...lol
