Mr Chelsea
its a shame for him, just as he was nearing full fitness, he gets another month out
Tim
This is really sh*t, and means we are even more desperate for someone else on the right hand side. Get well soon Joey.
dkw
poor sod, i bet hes getting very frustrated. i just hope we dont rush him back for the start of the season and let him get his full fitness back first.
midlandblue
the fear for Joey is if he does not start the season and the team perfrom well, is there a place in the starting 11 for him when he's fit? He is in danger of becomming the forgoten man at Chelse which would result in only one thing. Edited July 16, 2009 by midlandblue
TheWestwayWonder
Gah, my favorite player in the squad and now I wont be seeing him in Baltimore. Not to be insensitive, but does something like this mean we should be looking at getting in another winger?
g3.7
that's a bit short term in thinking, and we did extend malouda's contract (and whether we play wingers remains to be seen). unfortunately I think this could f*ck what is a big season for joe. BlueBeard
This could have been a perfect opportunity to give Stoch a short run in the first team on the right, but he's off to Holland now. Still, I suppose it never would have happened anyway...
mad_mac
Well, out for a month...I'd rather him miss the US Tour than the rest of the season

Blue Celery
I've no problems with Deco going, I just don't want him coming back Hell no don't leave him in my country. Drop him off somewhere right between the UK and the US.
ethicalstrategy
Well I'm in a good position to sympathise with Joey having had the exact same operation 5 weeks ago. Given that he is 18 years younger and a lot fitter I'd expect him to be back in action pretty quickly. He does seem to be suffering from "Arjen Robben" syndrome though. Gem
Rather now than 2 weeks into the season. Don't rush it back Joey, we'll need you.

loz
I think this is quite a big blow for Joe and more serious than just missing a month. After being out for so much of last season he really needed a full pre-season to work back towards full match fitness. Being out for a further month (at least) and missing pre-season will mean he is unlikely to be fully fit to be a first team regular until as later as mid October and by that time the team may be well established. Missing pre-season is a major set back for any player in terms of getting prepared, it is 10 times worse if they are just returning from a long term injury.
