Rafa - 1 game in

Featured Replies

RAFA BENITEZ made a spectacle of himself after Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.

The Liverpool boss first raged about two second-half penalty claims that his side were denied.

He then had an odd way of making his point about referee Phil Dowd.

In the post-match press conference, Benitez was asked: "What is your overall assessment of the referee?"

He responded by pulling his glasses out of his jacket and showing them to the world's media.

Despite Keane missing a hatrick of chances and Liverpool being out-played for long spells in the game. get 'em in early hey Rafa.

I just catched some highlights of the game and as for the two penalty claims I would say that not one of them really was a penalty. The first was a shoulder on shoulder tackle. Sure it looks rough, but it's not agains the rules. The second was a handball, but the Tottenham player held his arm over his chest so that's not really a hand ball. The arm might not have been in a "natural position" but if the arm hadn't been there the ball would simply have struck the chest so there's not much difference.

Benitez should keep his mouth shut. I take it he wont get any punishment for this? Nor will his assistant manager (think it was him) who got sent off for having a go at the ref (not sure which ref it was).

I actually thought the first was going to be given, based on the violence of the collision, but I can see after the fact why it wasnt. Voronin had almost lost control, and didnt even protest when he got up.

For the second, youre right Moos, it was never a penalty. I think they were just pissed off becuase it was the same player. I laughed when I saw it was him again. Ive got no sympathy in this regard for those pricks, seeing as very few of them had any for us over Barca or the numerous times they have fluked past us in the past.

I thought the first shout was a penalty too WestWay, and Moos are you sure its legal to push people off the ball with your shoulder? That sounds odd. If (forgot his name) didn't bump into him I was sure Vronin would have scored.

Ha. Haha, Hahahaha. Hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

What I love most is that Torres was saying all that garbage of how they can beat Chelsea and Manure no problems...and then they go and do that :drinkdrunk:

i think your allowed to shoulder someone if you keep your run, if you deviate into a player then its a foul. but that kind of thing will never get given as a penalty, and rightly. this is still a contact sport (if only just) and being a defender is becoming ridiculously difficlut. you can barely make a tackle now without it being given as a foul.

Normally Hansen and probably Lawrenson too would have called it great defending, just easing the attacker out of the way. Not this time though for some reason. Can't think why he changed his tune this time..................

I never realised he could be THAT bitter and arrogant. I guess I haven't watched that many press conferences of him after a loss. That glasses out thing was straight from Mourinho's playbook.

Well, to be fair, we didn't did we, we threw our toys big time and rightly so.

The big difference is, we had 4 pens denied, 2 of which were as clear as they come, in the CL semi-final.

Pool had 2 denied, only one of which was even vaguely contentious (and even then i don't think it was one) in the first game of the season.

Tubby will have a breakdown by November if he's this whiney and wound up so early on.

We had 4 penalties denied in one goal and we took it on the chin!

No we didn't.

I'm still bitter about it to this day, and I'm sure that for years to come I'll refer to it as "the time we got robbed of the Champions League".

lol that was the best part of it all for me, shouldn't have opened your mouth huh Torres?
