It would be boring if we all liked the same things. I hated Titanic. I won't go and see 127 hours, because I'd have my eyes shut half the time. I saw the trailer of Black swan and thought it was crap so I didn;t go to see it. Nothing I have read here has made me change my mind.

127 Hours isn't that horrific actually. It's really just a short scene near the end that is a bit gory (even I had trouble watching it and I can usually stand anything).

Apart from that it's really an interesting story.

As for Black Swan, it might be a strange movie, but it really is an excellent one about how our mind can f*ck with us sometimes.

It's very beautiful as well, and the acting is brilliant.

Wait until it comes out on dvd and see it then.

As for The King's Speech I have to say I loved it and didn't find it boring. And I'm only 26 years old, so maybe RBJ only have to way 7-8 years to see it ;)

He did pay for the best and it didn't work. Wasn't it the best one who told him to smoke alot and that would help? Didn't seem to work very well and it even killed him in the end. Great specialist.

In the end it was a guy who wasn't even a real speech therapist (I think) who helped him.

Besides, the movie is about more than just getting rid of a stutter.

And not every movie is about someone becoming a hero.

I didn't like it, but it's not the fact he had a stammer that was my issue with the story, it's just that the story didn't seem to have enough scope or depth to keep my attention for more than an hour. Had it been a simple, hour long BBC Drama, for example, my opinion would've been different because it's actually quite an interesting and uplifting tale, I just don't see why you need nearly 2 hours to tell a story that can be told in half that.

Consider the possibillity that it may be your attention span that's at fault! :D (can't find the wink icon)

I do realise that, and that's because it was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. I think I was annoyed that it didn't live up to what I expected, but looking back, it's better than I originally thought (though I still wouldn't see it again...).

Just saw Blue Valentine with the wife, which is definitely not a cheerful movie. It's about a breakup of a marriage, and is very depressing. Probably should not have seen it so close to Valentine's Day, since it was a major bummer.

Good acting, though. It is in limited release right now in the U.S., and I have no idea if it is even playing yet in Europe. Can't say if I recommend it, and certainly not if you are taking a date to the movies.

Saw the King's Speech last night, rather a pleasant film. Was Lizzie (current queen) so chubby as a child? Best for me was the set for Logue's consulting room, now that was worth an Oscar

I just watched "Football Factory" again yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought there were a few minor discrepancies, though I may well be wrong. The first is the notion within the film that everyone in South London or 'saarf of the river' supports Millwall, when Chelsea have far more fans in that area than them. Another was the away game at Liverpool - what were those Stoke fans doing there? And if they were at a service station on the way, then what were the Liverpool fans doing away from scouseland previously? And after the Chelsea lads got nicked after doing the Stoke, how come they were at court in London? Like I say, I may have got it all wrong, but it doesn't matter, it's still a great film.

Another thing was, in the credits it mentions the actors who played the main characters when they were young - don't remember that scene at all. Still, it was nice to see Mr.H play his brief cameo, I bet he had a good time giving advice! ;)

Just watched Looking For Eric - really enjoyed it even if it is all manked up

And Buffalo Soldier - a modern take on Sargeant Bilko but with a bit of dark humour and menace thrown in - think I prefer Bilko!

Is there a better movie then Anchorman? f**king brilliant

Watched Alien last night, it was the first time my wife had seen it and she wouldnt believe it was made in 1979. Such an amazing film, and didnt have to rely on super duper computer generated stuff to scare you.

King's Speech. Good, but IMO it doesn't deserve 12 Oscars...

Winter's Bone is indeed very good, but it's more Sundance than Academy sadly.

I'm not really getting all the criticism of the King's Speech. For me it is all about the performances. Firth in particular is magnificent. His stutter is so believable, made me think of Pacino being blind in Scent of a Woman.

Period drama's have been a bit of a thing recently and I think this is easily up there with Bright Star as one of the best of the genre. It won't win 12 Oscars but if Firth doesn't win it'll be the biggest travesty since Dances with Wolves beat Goodfellas for Best Picture.

Sarah's Key is excellent.

Paul, the latest outing from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, also starring the always hilarious Seth Rogen (only voice, but he's amazing). And though it's not quite as good as Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, this is still a really, really funny film! Loved it.
