August 7, 201015 yr Spending a bit of late red wine time cheering up the spiders in my living room by playing Joy Division's 'Unknown Pleasures' album for the umpteenth time. Utter bliss. Great album loz. Have you seen the film Control that came out a couple of years ago about Ian Curtis? If you haven't I'd recommend you take a look, good film. Myself I'm listening to a live version of Midnight Rambler from 'A Brussels Affair" a Stones bootleg from '73. Mick Taylor is bloody amazing.
August 7, 201015 yr Seen it, own it, argued its merirts with Maksimov! Yeah, I've got a copy of it as well. Not sure I agree with Maksimov about it not being any good because Curtis was a bit cold, I always thought that was because they were going for a more realistic potrayal. None the less, great film and great band, some of their melodies are almost unparalleled, at least since then anyway.
August 7, 201015 yr I'm posting this for Val ... and anyone else who likes classical music. Beautiful, just beautiful... This is one of my favourites:
August 7, 201015 yr Superb, Val. Thank you. In return I give you Jussi Björling, arguably the best tenor of all times, singing the duet from Bizet's Pearl Fishers, with Robert Merrill
August 7, 201015 yr ..and also this, from the film of Farinelli. The castrato voice was achieved by blending mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli's with counter-tenor Derek Lee Ragin's voice. It's a brilliant film, which I thoroughly recommend to you if you haven't seen it, Val http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdaYXIuEebs Edited August 7, 201015 yr by moi

August 21, 201015 yr I've gone back to converting my vinyl to iTunes again so I'm listening to all kinds at the moment. Most recently I started converting the three Arcade 20 Fantastic Hits albums from the early 70's, some great tracks on them that I didn't have on iTunes... The Piglets - Johnny Reggae Johnny Johnson & His Bandwagon - (Blame It) On The Pony Express The Bee Gees - My World Lou Christie - I'm Gonna Make You Mine Mardi Gras - Too Busy Thinking About My Baby Frederick Knight - I've Been Lonely For So Long Harley Quinne - New Orleans Jimmy Helms - Gonna Make You An Offer You Can't Refuse Unfortunately I'm having to be very careful, otherwise I might accidentally convert some of the utter crap as well... The Osmonds - One Bad Apple Donny Osmond - Puppy Love Donny Osmond - Too Young Vicky Leandros - Come What May Bay City Rollers - Keep On Dancing Sammy Davis Jr. - The Candy Man Neil Sedaka - That's When The Music Takes Me Little Jimmy Osmond - Long Haired Lover From Liverpool Cockerel Chorus - Nice One Cyril [shudder] Here's one of the better ones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KsaP1CwZzE
