Hey thanks for this Boyne.

There is no middle ground with me and Bob. There are tracks that i think are brilliant and there are others, nah, this is sh*t. I don't recall hearing Mozambique before but i really liked it. There is a small thread of Hurricane like tempo running through it (although maybe not quite as frenetic) but i thought it was really great. Cheers. Spotify - Dad's List addition number 233.

@WhiteWall Hi, you're welcome. Like you I think some of his tracks are brilliant and others are poor. I have about fifty Dylan albums and I think the first seven i.e. up to Blonde on Blonde are brilliant. Also Desire, Blood on the Tracks, Street Legal and Slow Train Coming are very good. I play them a lot. There are others I rarely play. A brilliant lyricist and for me the only people who can match him in the last sixty years when it comes to lyrics are Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and Bruce Springsteen. Should also mention that I do like Joan Baez singing Bob's songs. His lyrics and her voice are a great combination,

I had a similar epiphany with Neil Young actually. For a long time I was like What is this guy wailing on about, but then I don't know. Old man, Down by the River,  Hey Hey, My My, Heart of Gold and Ohio. Superb. Can't get enough now tbh.

Excellent...

Covered by Them (Van Morrison) who do it better IMHO 🙂

Another cover of a Dylan song although Bob does sing one of the verses. A great line-up.

Not only a quality song but a mark of the different times between the 80s and now. Became a cult favourite because of faint tit glimpses through the girls tops on the TOTP. Imagine the furore if Jason Derulo was about then.

Yeah... good he writes songs with lot's of verses!

Neil Young plays a mean guitar.

Undoubtedly one of the greatest guitar players ever.

Agree, a great guitarist. Was at the concert. A great night. Can't believe it's over forty years ago. I feel old!

What a concert to have been to Boyne. I saw them at Wembley Arena in 1985. Bagged free comp tickets. I thought they were brilliant. The missus said they were the loudest band ever.

It was. A mate of mine queued up for hours for four tickets. The days when you had to queue up for ages for tickets! The Hammersmith Odeon is a brilliant venue and the acoustics are superb. I've seen a number of performers there over the years from Joan Baez, Suzanne Vega and Bonnie Raitt to Dire Straits, Status Quo and Thin Lizzy.

Sultans of Swing was brilliant and I remember a cameraman getting too close to Mark Knopfler when he was playing the theme of Local Hero. Mark stopped playing until the cameraman moved away as he was blocking the audience's view.

I'm going to have to play the album to relive that night. Me and my mates can be seen on the cover. We were a lot slimmer those days. The beer has taken its toil!
