Carlo takes blame

Featured Replies

That's one of the things I've liked about Carlo...he doesn't suger coat things, and is willing to take blame where blame is due.

I should f*ckin' well hope he would take the blame!

Tonight's team selection was a f*ckin' joke, Ferreira at centre-back ffs? Kalou our only striker? A six-year old could have done a better job - tonight brought back memories of Scolari, and that can never be good. Tonight was a total f*ck-up, and it was all down to one man - Ancelotti!

At least Carlo doesn't sound look a sore loser. Team selection sucked big time, Carlo caught in between sending out a reserve team and a winning team, in the end he picked the worst possible combination. However we did have the lead, had chances for more goals. For those who believe we don't need reinforcement in Janunary, here is a reality check. Leave the fortunte of our season is Kalou's hands would be insane. This is about the 3rd time we got knocked out by penalty in CC in recent years, it's just not working out.

We're 5 points clear, safely qualified for the champions league and your blaming Ancelotti for getting knocked out of a mickey mouse cup. Carling cup is just a youth cup for the Top four and a serious cup for the bottom half of the league and championship teams. Look how the way Fergie, Wenger and Ancelotti all treat it. Sure it's nice to win it and it's not nice too see your team lose but jeez Ancelotti has been doing a cracking job so cut him some slack.

The carling cup was only good when it was called the Coca Cola cup simply because Carling tastes wrong!

what a horrid, obnoxious post.

I thought Chelsea fans were above things like this and left it to gooners and mancs but sadly not.

It's not so long ago that getting to the semi final of the league cup wouldve caused a pitch invasion, lets not forget that.

how is it horrid and obnoxious? in some ways hes right, and we as a club have progressed from when a league cup semi was a big thing. that doesnt make us arrogant, obnoxious or horrid. its just that we now have bigger fish to fry in the league, fa cup and europe. and its not like we put out a youth team, most of them were internationals and we should have had enough to beat blackburn. they upped their game and won. its not like we did what arsenal do in disrespecting the competition.

Mate I just want to win every game and every trophy. I don't think getting knocked out last night is cause for a celebration and a chance to belittle the trophy like some on here . whilst I am very aware of the carling cups place in our list of priorites I don't think we should forget what a good competition it has been for us recently.

Lets leave it at that.

i agree, i hate losing in any game. but i think you were a bit our of order saying his post was horrid and obnoxious. he didnt really say anything wrong. he even said:

so you agree with him.

I hate the whole idea of calling it a mickey mouse cup (as he did) when we get knocked out but yet saying it's a nice thing to win (as he did) when jt holds up the trophy.

maybe i was a bit strong (apologies sheva) but I think it's the wrong attitude to have. We are Chelsea and we are better than that, lets leave the mickey mouse business to the fans of the red teams.

Lets move on , not going to get into an argument with you over it dkw

fair enough mate, just thought it was a bit strong. i think most right minded chelsea fans would have loved to have won it, but the fact were out isnt going to ruin our season. who knows, we might look at it at the end of the season with some other trophies and think missing out on 3 extra games might have helped. heres hoping.

Because the likes of Wenger and Fergie treat this competition with little respect it doesn't mean we have to!!

Carlo could have had his 1st trophy in the cabinet by the end of January, however seeing as this is when the ANC begins, I can see why he may have other things on his mind.

Saying that we played with 10 men for the last 20 mins, the whole of extra time and managed to narrowily miss out on penalties.

Hats off for saying it was his fault, and taking the pressure off of Kakuta who as a youngster was brave to take that penalty.

what a horrid, obnoxious post.

Not at all horrid or obnoxious, christ you must like a lot of sugar in your tea or coffee.

Thought Chelsea fans where above what? telling it as it appears to them, it is a cup competition that is bottom of our priorities, yes it would have been good to go further in the competition and get a trophy early, but hey, we have bigger fish to fry.

It is a million miles away from where we want to be, yes now and again it is fine to have a big mac, but we have more refine palette's these days, dinner at the Ritz's sounds much more to our taste.

If you reach a quater final stage of a competition easy enough to win why not go for it?

All this ''we're bigger and better than this competition'' doesn't wash with me, especially if we finish the season empty handed!

Carlo did f**k up yesterday . Firstly with the team selection and then with the 3 subs at HT . Its stupid IMO and it got proved again yesteraday .

All that said and done blackburn probably deserved to win .

First of all, Carlo is a true man who takes responsibility and I admire him even more after this concession.

Secondly, I think those taking issue with his team selection need to see the flipside.

Kalou up front alone. Fair enough, we know he isnt good and he needed help in the form of Drogba to get off the mark after one half, but look at the alternatives. Namely playing one of Anelka or Drogba on a cold, wet night in Lancashier for 90 (or 120) minutes. If something hadve happened to one of them it wouldve been disasterous. Outside of Kalou, we dont have another "veteran" presence and wouldve had to play kids or risk bonafide first teamers

Paulo at the back. Fair enough again, it didnt work. However, it was again a choice of playing one of the top two, Riccy or JT, since Alex was out injured. Bruma came in and seemed to stabalize the ship, but Paulo as we know is a team first guy. Just coming back from a long lay off Carlo probably wants to get him playing as much as possible. Again, if it had've been Riccy or JT out there for 90 minutes, and

Okay, it didnt work. but the team showed great spirit in not capitulating and scraped an equalizer at the end of extra time. We gained something from this game morally.

And while I dont think the Carling Cup is anything to scoff at, I think the priority for this season has got to be the league. If that means saving our best guns for big games like Man City, then I think Carlo is doing the right thing.

what exactly was wrong with the selection though. other than paulo at centre back (which was odd to say the least) we had internationals in every poisition other than keeper. that side should have been good enough to beat blackburn. and on the 3 subs, when jose did it and it worked it was classed as tactical and managerial genius. it ceratinly worked for the most part with us being rubbish first half then much better in the second after the subs. but for a poor mistake from hillario we could have won it. its great when it works, stupid when it doesnt.

Its funny how people think of the manager when we lose, but never when we win?

Under Ancelotte we have won all but 2 of our games, lie top of the table by 5 points, beat Man U and Liverscum, battered Arsenal and nurturing the youngsters at the same time.

I think all this makes up for a loss in the mighty Carling Cup dont you?

Also, no Carling Cup means no unnecassary injuries and fresher players for the Champions League and FA Cup.

Paolo at CB , deco and joey starting together , kalou leading the attack . There should have been a proper CB at the back .

I thought we underestimated blackburn , they had their full strength up mostly and that helps with the team chemistry as well . You cant expect your second string to just turn up one day . It should be balanced . Maybe if were playing Maccasfield town it wouldnt ave matter .

How was getting in Bruma improve our play exactly ? If Bruma was to be given a chance he should have been started and not wasted on as a sub.

Of course . Everyone is happy and a one off match doesnt change our facts about the outstanding start of our manager .

but this just brought everyone back to earth maybe :D

what was wrong with joey and deco together behind a lone striker? and you name the centre back problem twice. bruma did improve our play because our defence was better. bringing on drogba and kakuta definately improved our play.
