Posted December 7, 200915 yr Only 3 goals from last season's golden boot winner. Is Nico too old now? Should we sale him in Jan? I thought since were slagging off Frank and Petr we might as well do Anelka too.

No more "slagging off". I promise. So. Frank Lampard is playing better than ever and will easily go on until he's 160 because he's fit. Petr is still the best keeper in the world and you should stick your fingers in your ears and shout la,la,la,la,la if anyone tries to argue otherwise. Deco is the best player to come out of Brazil since Pele. Kalou is the best young striker in the world, just watch him prove it in the World Cup. Ancelotti is a tactical genius and, being Italian, certainly knows how to wear a hat stylishly. There is no question we will win the treble this season. England will definately win the World Cup. United will be relegated this season because Ferguson is nowhere near as good tactically as Ancelotti, and he never wears a hat. This feels good. Perhaps I should apply this attitude to all areas of life? Osama Bin Laden, he's not that bad, just a bit mis-understood. North Korea? Well, why shouldn't they have nuclear weapons. Global warming? well, a little bit more sunshine will be good for everyone.
December 7, 200915 yr Careful, Just, lest you slip into the spirit of Christmas :D Although, admittedly, I have been thinking hard about whose or which decline I was worried about, so I could start my own thread.

I'm all for being pro-Chelsea, but some folk take the old blue tinted specs thing a bit far - especially when it comes to certain players (of course if Joey had played on Saturday we'd have won easy :D )
December 7, 200915 yr To be honest, this place is turning into a bit of a circus. ive decided that when we lose im gonna stay off here for a few days because the amount of ridiculous sh*te kneejerk bollocks that gets written is f**king infuriating. we lose and suddenly all our players are sh*t and the managers useless. its getting embarassing.

You mustn't let it get to you dkw. Everything's going to be brilliant. I'm brilliant. You're brilliant. Kalou is brilliant. We're all brilliant. Now I want you to go and look in the mirror and repeat this slowly ten times; "in with anger, out with love" And then I want you to go and stare at a picture of a new born kitten and marvel at how perfectly fluffy it is. Brilliant.

Brilliant. i never said everything was brilliant, but reading this site after a defeat is becoming ridiculous. strange how you picked up on my post though yet no mention of mod thinking this place is like a circus. any reason for that?
December 7, 200915 yr Scott's got a point. We signed a moody, 'me-first' knobhead, who enjoys talking to journos too much, and ended up with a hard working, golden boot winning, team player who hasn't pissed us off with any stupidity at all. False advertising!
December 7, 200915 yr so we have a poor lampard, a poor anelka, a poor cech so far. anyone else? makes you wonder just how good we would be if we had some good players instead of a side made up of this rubbish lot. god only knows why we arent in the relegation places.
December 7, 200915 yr ..yet no mention of mod thinking this place is like a circus. any reason for that? The Shed End Piss-Up 2009 A prize to anyone who correctly picks out the correct member in the picture? Must dash, the trapeze is starting at 8:30pm
December 7, 200915 yr I went to a circus once that had some fluffy kittens. Wasnt the best it had to be said.
December 7, 200915 yr The Shed End Piss-Up 2009 A prize to anyone who correctly picks out the correct member in the picture? Must dash, the trapeze is starting at 8:30pm Well Geezer isnt in there. None of those noses are red enough.

December 7, 200915 yr I have to say I agree with dkw, the last two times we've lost (albeit a draw with blackburn with our under-strength side followed by a loss on penalties in the mickey-mouse cup and a match which we could have easily nabbed a point or even a win from against big-spending City) I've come on the site afterwards and seen post after post criticising our core of players as well as our exciting new manager who's made a better start than I'm sure anybody expected. We're a winning team nowadays but we have to understand that dropping 3 points away to Man City in a hard-fought match with some funny refereeing against a fired up team of good quality, international-standard players isn't cause to start worrying about the team. I believe we have played brilliantly so far this season and if not for some dodgy defending at a couple of freekicks, a penalty shoot out and some over-hyped press we could infact call our season so far a big success...we've scored copious amounts of goals, conceded very few, we're 2 points clear at the top of the league 2 or 3 matches shy of christmas, already qualified for the next round of the Champions League and players playing well (almost) week in week out. I'm not suggesting we brush our issues, under-performances and occasional defensive/goalkeeping frailties under the carpet but we're too quick as supporters to jump on the band-wagon of accusing our players, manager, kit-man, ball boys and anyone else we can think of, of being in serious decline. I just hope we don't ACTUALLY start to play poorly on a regular basis or this site would overload!
December 7, 200915 yr so we have a poor lampard, a poor anelka, a poor cech so far. anyone else? I overspent on presents, so I'm poor as well. You're so sweet to care ;)
December 7, 200915 yr I can't help but feel that just maybe some people have taken this thread just a little too seriously just maybe... Edited December 7, 200915 yr by bjd
December 7, 200915 yr All fair points Jonesy. Personally, I generally don't bother reading posters who come on and make a bald statement like "so and so's sh*t" or "we're so crap". But win, lose or draw, I am more than happy to read a poster's point of view if they say "so and so's not good enough because.............." And then backs up their statement with some kind of reasoned argument and examples. I may not agree with it but at least I'll consider the points they are making and if I feel I can make a counter argument or add something to the debate I will. Because for me that's what these forums are all about and the main reason why I come on here. What I really can't abide, and the older I get the more I can't stand this, is people who say we are making knee-jerk reactions or slagging players off, simply by talking about a player's poor performance or an individual's loss of form, because, hey, "so what". "We won didn't we"? "We're top of the league aren't we?"Or even worse. "What are you going on about"? "You wanna get a reality check mate and think about when we really did have something to moan about in the 70's and 80's". What's that meant to mean? I was there, I lived through those days. So what. The fact that we won a game on Saturday, lost a game on Sunday or were proper crap back then but aren't now has no relevance whatsoever to a perfectly reasonable question such as why Frank Lampard is not playing to his usual immaculate standards or the reasons why Cech is making more mistakes than he used to.
