Marca headlines today, Madrid seeking Pepe replacement in Chelsea's Ivanovic

Marca

They can want but they aint gonna get. Ivanovic is a key player for Chelsea, one that the club will not sell. In fact recently Ivanovic has been one of our better players. It would be a mistake letting him go.

Outside of JT and Ashley Cole, I cant think of a defender we'd be less likely to sell.

If its true, and I doubt it is, his head might be turned but he has now bedded himself into the first team and shows no signs of being out of his depth.

They should go for Agger or Skrtel. I heard they might come cheap...

I can understand why Madrid would want him as he has been playing well recently but I can't see us selling, and after the way Madrid messed us around with Robinho last season, why should we do any business with them?

They can get f*cked. He's ours and really is proving to be a damn good signing.

Be a big blow if he were to leave , hes one of the best players for us this season . Cant see the club selling him, would he want to leave a club he clearly enjoys playing for .

Let's have a look at it...I read somewhere he's valued at about 9mil....what's the least we would sell him for (if, God forbid, we did sell him)...20mil?

There is no way we should even consider selling Ivanovic. Young, world class and on form. Exactly the kind of player we need to keep in the team.

First rumours about them inquiring for Carvalho, now Ivan? No way, no chance. Ivan's proven to be as good as any of our defenders, this season. Preferred choice for RB, even over Bosingwa.

No Chance. I'd tell Madrid they could have Carvalho though - at the right price.

Don't know if this is alccurate, but thought I'd post it....

Chelsea have rebuffed interest from Real Madrid in Branislav Ivanovic and are set to reward the Serbia defender with a new contract next summer.

Madrid are desperate to land Ivanovic after their Portugal centre-back Pepe suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season. But Blues coach Carlo Ancelotti has no intention of letting Ivanovic leave Stamford Bridge despite the Spanish giants identifying the 25-year-old stopper as their top defensive transfer target.

Chelsea right-back Jose Bosingwa could be on the sidelines for a further two months due to his troublesome knee injury, another reason why Ivanovic has become indispensible at the West London club.

Ivanovic will only have one year remaining on his current deal come the end of the season and Ancelotti is hoping to secure the defender for another four years.

However Ivanovic's national team boss Radomir Antic has talked up the prospect of a switch to the Spanish capital, saying he believes his man would have no trouble fitting in at Real Madrid.

'Ivanovic is more solid than Pepe,' said the former Luton Town player, who has also managed Barcelona and Real.

'He is physical and is always calm at the back. He has all the attributes to be a Real Madrid player.'

Ivanovic joined Chelsea for £9.7million from Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2007 and is believed to be keen to commit his long-term future to the club.

Would like the bottom part to be true.

So that's Ivanovic and Carvalho they want. Just JT, Alex, Bowswinger and Ashley Cole left for the tabloids to link them with. Maybe Zhirkov, Mancienne and possibly Bruma, too.

Apart from Drogba and maybe Anelka, I'd say Ivanovic may have been our best player this season. He's certainly my favorite.

No way we gonna sell Iva to Circus F.C. especially after the Robinho fiasco... though in a way they did save us !!! Carvalho maybe but at a premium of course :D!!
