mad_mac
I know it's tough to think about us putting in many more good displays after todays effort, or lack thereof. However, I thought I'd compile a list of our, man u's, and arsenal's run ins, premiership only. I've listed the games played and the points earned so far. So you can put a 3 or 1 or 0 next to each game, add it al up and see who you think will win. Interestingly, the only team we all play between now and the end of the season, are spuds! CHELSEA Currently played 28 games, on 61 points Chelsea v West Ham Blackburn v Chelsea Portsmouth v Chelsea Chesea v Villa Man U v Chelsea Chelsea v Bolton Tottenham v Chelsea Chelsea v Stoke Liverpool v Chelsea Chelsea v Wigan Man U Currently played 28 games, on 60 points Wolves v Man U Man U v Fulham Man U v Liverpool Bolton v Man U Man U v Chelsea Blackburn v Man U Man City v Man U Man U v Tottenham Sunderland v Man U Man U v Stoke Arsenal Currently played 27 games, on 55 points. charierre
86 points will win the league this year, we now need 8 wins and a draw to achieve it preferably not losing to ManU. Can we do it ...of course we can ,it'll be hard though

However, I hope I am wrong, and the premiership can throw Man U a few more suprises in the run in. Scott

Nibs
I did the prediction thing on BBC a couple of weeks back and had us winning the league by 1 point but that was with us drawing at Old Trafford and winning at home to City. So many twists and turns this season. Arsenal have an easier run in but still drop too many points. Utd look favourites but then looked average against Everton and still rely too much on Rooney. We're still in with a shout but not if our big game players keep going missing and we defend like we did on Saturday. It's been an exciting season for the neutrals and I think it's good for the premiership that no-one is running away with it but in terms of quality, it's been the poorest I can recall for some time. If we are going to start predicting then we have to be honest and base our thought on what we have seen this season and in that respect I predict we will get a total of 0 points from our matches at old Trafford , anfield and whl. Yes I know that sounds gloomy but lets be honest about it, what have we seen this season on our travels (bar arsenal ) to suggest otherwise? Lets not forget we lost all those games last season too. I think it's going to be close but I fear we may well fall short. It's such a pisser because it's there for the taking and has been since November. But we have to be honest - we haven been good enough to take the baton and run with it. I think our best bet will be getting knocked out of the champions league - realistically this squad can only cope with one game a week right now. We are too old and too tired and too predictable to full force on the two major fronts this season. If that happens who knows? I can't help but feel we may end up with the cup again. That's fine , it would be great , it's always a fabulous day but it would just paper over the cracks of the season, like last year. Havng said that the thougt of Stoke and thier set plays fills me with dread for Sunday. Hillario coming out to claim one of delaps throw ins is a thought to scare us all. Yes, I had a bad weekend , if you haven't guessed! Though I'm honestly just being realistic.

g3.7
there are 3 games that are hard to see us winning, a couple that united MAY not win, and possibly none you'd expect arsenal not to take all the points from. it wouldn't be a surprise to finish third at this point. all we have in our favour is the fact that this season has thrown up plenty of unexpected dropped points by the top sides. Andreas
I still have to believe that we can go on a 10 game unbeaten run, the reality might prove me wrong, and its a good chance it will but I still have to believe in Chelsea. Arsenal can screw up on the easy games, seen that before. United might f**k up in one or two of the games - Its a good chance we can take it home afterall. I know we can do it, its our year this time around! KTBFFH
ethicalstrategy
I love the way that everyone expects Utd and Arsenal to do so much better than us in the run in. All three teams have dropped points so far this season. We've been the least bad. We may not win it in the end, but we have as good a chance as we'll ever get. Yes, our form has been decidedly patchy of late and yet neither Arsenal not Utd have managed to get ahead of us.

Tim W
Reckon the citeh result could just be the wake up call we need. We've dropped back into the comfort zone of thinking if we score we'll win. We are too old and too tired and too predictable to full force on the two major fronts this season. That's what some of us have been saying all season - hell the signs were even there last season but were ignored. I really do hope we see a bit of forward thinking now from the management and they sit down in the summer and have a plan for next season & beyond which hopefully won't include a lot of the dead wood we have now. And ES, I know Man Utd and Arsenal have dropped points (thankfully, otherwise we'd be out of the race), but they do seem to have the momentum at the moment. Okay, that changes on a weekly basis, but when they win they are playing some decent football. In the last few weeks we have been far from good and even the wins have been very unconvincing. Chippy
I don't like the way its been going but I think the JT thing has had a baring on the focus of the team, who knows if a couple of the players have even said to John they think hes been out of order and a little bit of unrest could easily have come about, whatever the reason I think the team has lacked cohesion in the last few games and with the injuries and now a couple of 1 match bans Carlo needs to get the players together and talk this through. I still wouldn't swap the 1 point advantage for the easier run in and think these players need to think about saturday and whether they want to add a shiny premier winning Medal to their collections or whether they want to lose a big opportunity that a lot of them won't have after this season. I really hope if all this gos tits up the manager doesn't get the blame for it as he has shown enough to give hope that with signings he wants to play the system he wants he could be a great manager for us. Agreed. I think that even IF we are knocked out of the CL against inter and we are 3rd in the league Carlo should stay atleast for next season because we desperatly need some stability at the club. I think that Ancelotti could be a very good manager for us if alowed to build his own team.

I agree with that Chippy. We need a bit of stability and another change of manager would be farcical. That said, he needs to have some clear ideas as to how we are going to progress over the next few seasons with assurances that he will be blooding youngsters (as long as they are good enough - and having seen a fair bit of the youth team / reserves, that's not in question - they are). If Ancelotti seriously thinks we can start the 2010/2011 season with the same bunch of players we have now, then I will review his position!! I agree that it would be wrong for ca to get the bullet if it goes tits up but I'd still like to see a little bit more from him at the moment. Right now we are crying out for a leader, somebody needs to grab the team by the balls and take no prisoners. I see none of it from him right now (goes for Wilkins too) he has been so relaxed and ambivalent this past month almost acting if none of the off field stuff has any link to him. We got more passion from Grant , I have no doubts ca is good manager in waiting for us, he just really needs to step up , starting now...

Spot on, the thing is we have had the same basic problems under Grant, Scolari and Ancelotti where the team appears to lack motivation and ship silly goals defensively while looking at their beat when they go 1 down..we have some real off field problems this time but even before these we had a few pointers that it was still in there, the only commen denominator is the players and some fresh faces will give better competition for places as well as changing some of the attitude that seems to be of the (I'm an untouchable) type of thing. Stability has got to be achieved, we can't keep having a few bad games and changing the Manager and expecting a new man to do wonders with the same players that are now a year older. We are definitely struggling, but I just had a look back at the last 10 premier league games for each of us and both we and Arsenal have taken 20 points out of 30 and Utd have taken 23. It might all change going forward, but my guess is that everyone will still drop more points. I also agree we ned to stick with Ancelotti. He hasn't been perfect, but he has done pretty well for his first stab at the PL. G4 - I think we will finish top or second or maybe third Hell, I don't know. I change my mind every 5 minutes. It will be close though and our match at Old Trafford, and possibly the one at Anfield, will be crucial.
