Featured Replies

JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW,WHICH IM SURE MOST OF YOU DO ALREADY,CHELSEA ARE 105 YEARS OLD TODAY. SEEM'S LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY WE WHERE HAVING OUR 100TH ANIVERSARY. NO HISTORY FUNNY THAT.

Sorry to pee on the parade guys but our birthday isn't actually until the 14th of March.

And I've just seen on the offical site they are saying today is our birthday which is why I guess this thread started however all references I've ever seen from the Chelsea historians referes to March 14th as our birthday. I'm gonna get in touch with the club and find out what the hell is going on.

Lofty always said it was the 14th March, so I reckon if Geezer and Lofty says so, it must be so!

At The Rising Sun.

I've contacted them and am awaiting their reply. I've always been led to believe it was the 14th and by amazing coincidence my daughter Stacy, avid Chelsea fan was also born on the 14th and we've always made a very big thing about that coincidence. I'll be absolutely gutted if the record are wrong.

no need to check with them Geezer.

All the news that is approved is right here

14th March it was

Check last paragraph

I've just read an article on a swedish site about this. The guy (a die hard supporter) said that he had always been sure it was 14th march and not 10th march.

Some sources say 14th, some 10th.

In the birthday-news on chelseafc.com it says 10th and I think it says the same in the history section there.

And in the official history book released when the club turned 100 years old it actually says something about the newspapers reporting on 11th march that a new club had been established the previous day.

But on the DVD for the season 2004/2005 when the club turned 100 years old they say â€On the 14th of March Chelsea Football Club was 100 years oldâ€.

Not sure what is the truth to be honest. Could it be something like that it was decided that the club would be established on one day, but the final paper work was done a few days later?

P.S. And I agree with Moi. If Lofty says it's 14th, then it's 14th. :D

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS

Posted on: Wed 10 Mar 2010

Chelsea Football Club is 105 years old today and to mark Founders' Day, the Official Chelsea Website is publishing the results of extensive research that correct statistical records for players from the first half-century of the club's existence.

http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1989714,00.html

It's interesting that nowhere in the "corrections" do they mention that they are correcting the DATE of Founders' Day!

The post I deleted earlier said it was the 14th but then checked the main site and assumed they would be correct.

I've the same birthday so was fairly sure of the 14th.
