Mutu banned for nine months

Adrian Mutu has issued an apology to Fiorentina and their fans after he was handed a nine-month ban by the Italian Anti-doping Tribunal for his double doping failure in January.

"I am sorry to have left Fiorentina in these months, for my team-mates, the club and fans. I feel a great displeasure to think that I could have been there, and I want to say sorry for this," he told the club's official website after the sentence was confirmed.

"I am not satisfied with the reduction of three months, I know I made a mistake, but I think nine months is a long time.

"Now we will see what we can do. The error was made, but I expected a lesser sentence."

Prosecutors at the TNA had asked for a 12-month ban, but the judges decided a nine-month suspension was more appropriate.

Mutu tested positive for the banned substance Subitramine in two seperate doping tests back in January.

He will return to football on October 29, having already spent two months suspended while the trial took place.

Has he ever apologised to our fans for playing most of the season while off his head on cocaine - and seeing his form go down the pan drastically - , and lying about it to the club?

What a waste of talent, I at the time thought we would have done well to give Mutu another chance but he has proved that would have been a waste of time.

I remember quite a few people on here backed him when the case for us trying to recoup some money came up, i would love to know how they feel now about this incredibly idiotic individual.

What an absolute f**king pleb.

He clearly didn't learn his lesson, and to be quite frank, I hope he never kicks a ball in professional football again. A complete and utter disgrace to the game.

Has he ever apologised to our fans for playing most of the season while off his head on cocaine - and seeing his form go down the pan drastically - , and lying about it to the club?

I believe we are still waiting on that one.

Can he not just not dabble in dieting pills and whatever recreational drugs he likes? Especially when he still has millions to pay back? It must be galling for the countless players who never made it as pros, or are floating around in the lower leagues, watching someone so talented throw it all away because of foolishness.

He has spent some of the best possible years of his career either banned or on the comeback trail.

this gezzer is a f**king waste of talent hope he never gets to play top football again however there will always be a club willing to take a chance on him as he will prob cost f**kall. oh by the way adrian sort our bit of dough out kid....

Hate to ressurect this, but guess who's been reading from St. Stevie's playbook:

Reports: Mutu involved in assault on waiter

FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — Disgraced Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has reportedly attacked a barman in Florence, a little over a week before his return from a doping ban.

According to witnesses, the Romanian forward argued with the barman over the payment of a bill at 3.30am before punching him twice and kicking him while he was on the floor, ANSA news agency reported Saturday.

Doctors say the waiter, a 28-year-old Kosovan named Berat Racaj, will need to be observed for 25 days after suffering facial injuries, a broken nose and bruising of the chest, according to ANSA.

I admit I was sort of on the fence for him, but now - f*** him. I hope we push to get every penny he has or will ever have. I will never forgive him for associating his name with my football club.

Yeah bad bad Mutu...We are so much holier then YOU !!

If your being serious, then dont be so f**king ridiculous.

Come on guys who here hasn't beat the sh*t out of a Barman at 3:00am because you didn't want to pay the bill. :Connie_threaten:

It's not like he's on drugs or something.

Always make your sarcasm obvious

This good rule of thumb also known as Poe's law:

Not to be confused with the law of poetry enshrined by Edgar Allan Poe, the internet Poe’s Law states: “Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humour, it is impossible to create a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing.â€
