Carlo wants Schweinsteiger ?

Featured Replies

Can someone clear up exactly what kind of player he is and what position he plays. I remember him being an attacking midfielder/winger type when he first appeared, but im sure he played a more defensive position for #bayern in the cup final.

He's played central since the arrival of Robben and Ribery - which has led to the Germans pinning a lot of their hopes on him for the World Cup with the absence of Ballack.

This is about the first potential signing I've seen that I'd actually be quite happy with. He's young and would fit our system quite well, as he could play midfield in rotation with Essien (or even Lampard), but also do a good job out wide when we change formation.

Cheers, but he did used to play out wide didnt he, I didnt imagine it did I?

Yeah, played on the right wing when he was younger.

glad about that, thought i had imagined it. He seems to play a very similar role to Ballack, a pivot midfielder. I suppose it all depends on the price as to whether its worth it or not.

I've always thought he's a lot like Beckham, delivers a good ball, works his socks off, doesn't really have the trickery to go round players but doesn't need to.

A very good player.

He hasnt really been that good lately. A few years back he was really the rave and all that but of late he's just another decent player playing in a decent league. I am not too excited being linked with him.

Can't say I agree with that. I've seen quite a bit of Bayern and he has been excellent.

Agreed. From what I've seen of Bayern lately he's been one of their standout players. It's understandable that he hasn't got as much attention of late considering that Ribery and Robben tend to take up a lot of the spotlight.

Schweinsteiger is a versatile footballer who can take on any role in midfield. If Ancelotti signs him I believe he will use him in the holding role!

I think that was true up until this season - apart from Robben he was as good as anyone Bayern had, and they had a pretty good season,

I wouldnt mind having him, however I dont think we need him and based on that should pass and instead involve our youths more, in this case more Matic specifically.

Couldnt see him going for less than 15-20m anyways

Have wanted to see this lad come in for a couple of years now. Under rated, young, European and would fit in well. Top signing if we make it.

He's a decent player but I think hes abit too lightweight for the Premier League.

Are we still talking about Schweinsteiger? I mean, how big you do need to be to be succesful in the Premiership?

I'm thinking the same, everyone we're interested in seems to be to small/lightweight for the Premiership!

Not sure about that. He looks much stronger than the likes of Luka Modric who hasn't done too badly

I never give too much weight to the 'too lightweight for the Premiership' line as there have been plenty of players who aren't exactly British Bulldogs who have done well in England.

Can think of a few "lightweight" Chelsea players alone who turned out to be fantastic.

Schweinsteiger's 6 foot and has a fairly stocky build, there's no way he's too lightweight for the English league.

Germany's hardly a league full of nonces, anyway. The Bundesliga has been a very high standard recently, as Bayern's CL final appearance evidenced. English clubs should really be looking at more of the talent coming out of that league.

I agree. While we're signing Schweinsteiger we should have a look at players like Kroos, Marin and Özil. :)
