Besides...it's not like he does those mistakes every match. I think he's been a pretty decent back up when Cech has been injured. Today he's been shaky, but so has pretty much everyone else in our defense.

I agree, him and Turnbull are not good enough back ups!

if you're going to make an assessment based on the previous 45 minutes, you could with equal justification say you have no faith in JT, so he has to go.

I think we are all concerned about about our back up goalies. I had no problem with Hillario when he was third choice but now he is second choice its a different ball game. I honestly dont think he is good enough.

Anyway, obviously this is based on the Frankfurt game and whilst i was quick to point a finger at him, the more i see the goal the more JT needs to hang is head in shame. Not that i expect him to get anywhere near the level of criticism Hillario will clearly find coming his way.

Hilarious is an ok shot stopper but his passing and clearing is dreadful.

Hilario has been a decent backup goalie for us over the years. Today, he was shaky from the start and his confidence deteriorated after a few bad clearances and that howler with partner in crime Terry. It might just be a very bad day at the office for him, let's not write him off so soon.

I'd still rather him than Turnbull.

Hilario was bought as a 3rd choice goalkeeper and thats what he is in my opinion .. We shouldnt forget that he didnt let us down in quite a few important games.

About todays game: first goal was partly JT´s fault and the pitch was horrible too .. so this threat is useless

Casillas as back up? Hes rubbish, I would much prefer we clone Gordon Banks and Dino Zoff as 2nd and 3rd choice.

The purpose of pre season is to gain match fitness and understanding throughout the team. At the same time the manager can guage deficiencies within the ranks. Both our backup keepers have failed to come up to the mark and sooner or later we have to address what must have been the worst bit of business we have done in the past 5 yrs... the sale of Carlo. Finding a good no2 will be difficult but a club of our size and ambition should really be able to make it happen. For now we have to hope Petr gets fit fast, act now Carlo please, our rivals will have noted the two keepers in possession of the shirt look petrified and totally out of their depth.

Do we have to go through this again, it wasnt the clubs choice to sell him. It was an offer Carlo was gonna find hard to turn down and the club allowed it because of the years he had given us. How exactly was it bad business.

sitting on the spuds bench preferable to ours? Surely when we allow him to move on we should have an adequate replacement in place. The two replacements we have are ok at No 3 but will never be good enough for No 2.

Hilario is VERY good shot stopper. Yes his footwork is crap- surely he can work on that though. I wouldn't ever right Hilario off.

If anyone thinks we are going to buy another backup and cut Turnbull and Hilario loose they're living in a parallel universe.

Besides, he hasnt been that bad in the grand scheme of things. Remember a few years ago when we were supposed to fall apart because Cech and Carlo were injured? That didnt happen because he was solid enough when the time came. Cech still plays most games, and for what we need Hilario for he is fine.

I wouldnt say that.. Cech wont be out for too long. And its better to have him injured for the first 1-2 league games (i think he wont miss any btw) then have him injured sometime during the season.
