ethicalstrategy Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Tickets now on sale for season ticket holders. Full details
loz Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Two defeats in a row now - time to get back on course with a win against Marseille. Drogs is suspended so expect Sturridge to replace Drogba in the front line as against City. In fact, other than that change, we might well see the same staring eleven as the City game.
Andreas Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Should be a comfortable win but you never know, hopefully be a good match to watch. Same as against City but Sturridge in for drogba and hopefully he will play centre, Anelka should not be allowed near that place as we all know he drops out of position and it leaves us with no one in the box.
Kalou Time Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Will be far from an easy game my team would be ---------Cech----------- Ivan----Jt----Alex----Cole ----------Mikel----------- -----Essien----Ramires----- Kakuta----Nico----Malouda After Sturridges last two performances i dont think he deserves a start
mad_mac Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Can't see too many changes, but what's the ststus of Yossi and Kalou? My only problem is if we need something to change the game, and the bench is the same as yesterday, I don't think we've too much to offer. Also, I can't rmember, are McEchran and Kakuta listed in our CL team?
clubhappy Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 After saturdays result , this game cant come quick enough , a win will put me back in a good mood.
Chippy Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) ---------Cech----------- Ivan----Jt----Alex----Cole ----------Mikel----------- -----Essien----Ramires -------Mceachran------ ---Nico----Malouda---- Not what I expect to see but without Drogba and Sturridge being a bit off at the moment.. I would like to see Josh get a start, Sturridge to come on and revert to 4-3-3 after an hour or so if need be..He is great off the bench but to start and be rested after an hour for the Arsenal game would be another confidence booster for the lad. I wonder if Carlo would fancy him at the tip of the Diamond, might be the player to have for a switch to that system, that way I'd leave Sturridge on the bench for some late impact. The bench is a worry and I would like to have Kalou back for this. Edited September 26, 2010 by Chippy
ozboy Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 If Kalou was back would definitely start him. Sturridge is no more likely to stay central than Anelka. Most of the team picks itself. Who to play instead of Drogs is the question. Might start Zhirkov instead of Ramires. That's just me.
Threepw00d Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 not against marseille and arsenal http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2166827,00.html Ramires' chance to prove himself
The Moos Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I hope we'll play: Cech Ivan - Alex - JT - Cole Essien - Mikel - McEachren Kakuta - Anelka - Malouda But that wont happen. It'll be Ramires and Sturridge instead of Kakuta and McEachren and subsequently my assurance of a win faltered. Would be nice to see Bosingwa get a few minutes as well, but I'm not sure he's ready yet.
Blue Steel Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Really hope McEachren starts. We lacked a natural ball player in our last two games.

The Moos Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Kakuta is still injured, and Bosingwa is down to play a reserve game Tuesday against Liverfool. Kakuta was fit to play against City. When did he get injured again?
Anders Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Kakuta's fit. Ancelotti haven't decided if he'll play him or Sturridge at the right in attack yet. McEachran will start at the bench.
djisi Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) OK the animosity toward Ramires is just plain childish. Essien Mikel Ramires will be our midfield vs Marseille Ramires has a good pair of feet with a very nice touch, he needs to play every game since it's early in the season so he can get these mistakes out of the way and continue to gain chemistry with the team. There's really no point benching him as punishment because later in the season we WILL need him. Edited September 28, 2010 by djisi

Agree, same deal with Sturridge, fair to say he hasn't been great in the last week however he is a very crucial member of this small team. He needs the playing time to gain some confidence. Drogba and Anelka will miss some games this season and Sturridge could prove the difference between winning the EPL or not. Can't wait for this game, expecting to see McEachran and Kakuta the first 2 of the bench with the 3rd being a defensive switch, maybe Zhirkov or Ferreira.
Hutch Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Carlo Ancelotti: Nicolas Anelka is Chelsea's Champions League talismanCarlo Ancelotti has full confidence in Nicolas Anelka's striking prowess as the former France international prepares to spearhead Chelsea's attack against Marseille in the Champions League tonight. Anelka will be the main striker for the Blues with Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba sitting out the last game of his two-match suspension. Chelsea won their opening game in Group F 4-1 against Slovakian minnows MSK Zilina, with Anelka getting on the scoresheet twice. Ancelotti will be looking for more of the same from the former France international, especially against the French champions. 'I don't think he will be afraid or scared because the game is on French television,' said Ancelotti. 'He is in a fantastic moment and he will play for the team as he always does. He is able to play in every position up front. 'For his kind of skills he is perfect to play up front because he has speed, he has quality and he can support the players who come from midfield. 'He is a fantastic striker for this reason. He is able to play in every position on the pitch.' LINK
cfckeane Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I'd love it if Anelka can really put in a great performance and show the French FA what they're missing.
The Moos Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Based on what Carlo has said we can be pretty sure our midfield will be Essien - Mikel - Ramires. JT will play, as will Anelka and Malouda up front. So I guess it'll be: Cech Ivan/Ferreira - Alex - JT - Cole Essien - Mikel - Ramires Sturridge/Kakuta - Anelka - Malouda
dkw Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Not Ramires ... He must NOT start. Your right, lets dump him after one poor game. In fact lets sell him now before he has the chance to settle in, and sell that Kakuta fella who has done nothing yet either. Also Ash Cole was poor for Citys goal, get rid of him too.

ozboy Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 If I was Marseille I would certainly try to play rough and tough like Man C did with some success. One of the worries in this game is three tough games for Anelka, no spring chicken, in a row. He himself could easily tweak a muscle. However needs must. As to who should play with Anelka, the choice is between Sturridge who is blindingly fast but has no idea what he's doing or why he is doing it and Kakuta who still thinks he can get away with too much. Its a very important game for whichever of the two does play. Kakuta has the advantage of having lots of French experience. He would probably feel at home. On balance on the little I've seen I'd probably start with Kakuta and save Sturridge and his pace for the last 30. Sturridge is senior of course. Ramires will alsmost certainly improve as the season progresses. He may be more used to European opposition.
