Zola Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_6605495,00.html Would welcome him! Good player! Can't see it happening though
evissy Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Would welcome him with open arms but can't really see it happening either. Modric would be a replacement for Benayoun and if you compare those two there is no arguing who is the better player. This would be a blow for Josh but he is a young player still. Don't like the idea of paying huge amounts of money to Spuds. They would clean us with this deal.
Ruh Buh Juh Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Fantastic player, one of my favourites in the league outside of Chelsea, even though he is a Spud. I don't think it would be a huge blow for McEachran. He still needs to grow as a player, and though he has impressed heavily in recent weeks, he still won't start. Plus it's clear Carlo likes him, he's been on the bench nearly every game for a long while now. He'll remain a fixture on the bench I think. Mikel would miss out, Essien drops to his position and Modric/Lamps the other two in the midfield. People wouldn't like Essien in that position, but that midfield would be unbelievable. Whether we can get him however remains to be seen, and unlikely considering he's cup-tied for the Champions League, but he would be an excellent aquisition.
charierre Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Highly unlikely in this transfer window but as the article states a 'summer' transfer target. This would be more likely if the Spuds miss on champion league football next season. It also suggests if true there wouldn't be any midfield recruitments in this transfer window as we would have a surplus come summer or am I reading too much into the wording?
TheWestwayWonder Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 If he is our number one transfer target, then god help us. Dont get me wrong, good player, but I think a better player for a better price could be found elsewhere.
mad_mac Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Good player, but no way should he be out top target, nor should we be giving money to Spurts
The Brit Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 when will the papers realise we don't do big transfers anymore...sheva was four years ago now
Eggy McMuffin Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 when will the papers realise we don't do big transfers anymore...sheva was four years ago now We're signing Sheva again? Wait until the 'papers get hold of this one!
Zola Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 This is developing into a double now: The Italian is keen to inject some verve into his stalling side and has identified the two playmakers as fitting the bill.Tottenham's Luka Modric is a major Chelsea target Tottenham's Luka Modric is a major Chelsea target According to the Sun, Dinamo Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic - a close personal friend of Modric - spoke with Ancelotti recently about the Croatian. The newspaper reports him as saying: 'I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric. 'Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings. I am not Modric's agent - I am just his friend - but I am very proud.' The signing of Modric would be the first major change that Ancelotti has made to the Chelsea team since he took over, while the Croatian would likely be employed in a deep playmaker role similar to the one occupied by Andrea Pirlo in Ancelotti's successful AC Milan side. Meanwhile, Sneijder is also a target for the Blues boss, despite only having recently signed a contract extension to stay at Inter until July 2015. It is thought the Italian side would consider a bid for the player that led them to a Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League treble last season - especially if Rafa Benitez moves on. Inter themselves will be looking to refresh their team after a poor start to the current campaign. dkw Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Getting Sneijder would be incredible, and now is the right time to make a move with the current mess at Inter.
Arq Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I have to say I wouldn't be upset for either one at the right price.
PloKoon13 Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Modric was a £30million target for Ancelotti Holy sh*t...
Hutch Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Difficult to believe that Ancelotti really isn't interested in Modric. The rumour resurfaces today, this time quoting a bid of "upwards of £20 milliion":. Chelsea to test Tottenham resolve with big money bid for midfielder Meanwhile The Sunday Times (subscription only) report that "Chelsea are to battle Tottenham for the signing of Everton winger Steven Pienaar"
Ben Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Meanwhile The Sunday Times (subscription only) report that "Chelsea are to battle Tottenham for the signing of Everton winger Steven Pienaar" Saw that somewhere else. Would make a good addition to the squad if we got him on good wages, but at the moment we need players who can change games right now.
rahul Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Would love to see Modric here. I've been a big fan ever since he signed for rottenham but I think it's going to be a difficult one and if we're going for him, it will be in the summer. Chances of getting him in Jan are next to impossible as so many things are stacked against this deal going through.
