BLUES TO VISIT VITESSE ARNHEM

Posted on: Thu 19 May 2011

The pre-season fixture programme goes European with the confirmation that Chelsea will play a match in The Netherlands on Saturday 9 July.

Vitesse Arnhem are the opposition with the kick-off at 7.30pm local time (6.30pm UK time).

Ticket details will follow. The match will be shown live on Chelsea TV.

The Dutch side are managed by former Chelsea right-back Albert Ferrer who made 113 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2003. They currently have two young Chelsea players on loan, goalkeeper Matej Delac and defender Slobodan Rajkovic, plus Nemanja Matic although he will be joining Benfica permanently in the summer.

The first four games of Chelsea's pre-season will be live and exclusive on Chelsea TV, the Vitesse match, the game against Portsmouth away which was announced yesterday, plus Asian tour matches against Malaysia XI and Thailand All Stars.

might go to this game, and stop off in Amsterdam for a few days aswell

Make sure you plan to stay in the dam after the game, if your there for a few days before you wont even remember theres a match on.

I would be surprised if Chappi is still at Vitesse when Chelsea visit...

I went to Chelsea's pre season friendly against Ajax a year ago, and it was dire. Not sure I'm going to make the effort to travel to Arnhem this year.

I was thinking it might be a bridge to far aswell ...........................................................

Excellent :laugh2:

I just remembered that an ex-mother in law of mine has moved to Arnhem, near the stadium as well. Another reason not to go :greysweat:

How many ex-mother-in-laws do you have? One was enough for me!! :shok:

I don't count marriages, but the number of men I've lived with. That's two. If ever there's a next one, he will have to be an orphan.

Are tickets available for non-members as well for the Chelsea section? Thought I might make a trip down there for the weekend, in case I find cheap plane tickets.

Going to this game, not so far from Antwerp and it'll be nice to go there with the Mighty Blues Belgium.

The same mad, drunken Belgians whose coach used to be parked up on Fulham Rd after games?

Dunno if there's any seats left but we got Ryan air from Stansted £58 return, Sat-Sun

Vitesse game called off it seems, AVB reckons its too early.

I feel for those who already booked hotels and that. Even a longer wait for the pre-season to start :(

Did feel this was too early, especially considering we took so long to appoint AVB. We need more time to do most of our ins and outs before pre-season
