Spitting Image was brilliant, taking the piss out of all and sundry. Even the Royal family weren't spared. Can you imagine that happening today? The snowflakes and the tree grabbers would be up in arms. Ben Elton recently described it as "talking on eggshells". A shame because there are plenty of candidates on TV, who take themselves far too seriously, and are ripe for the pisstake.

Or 606 when Danny Baker was hosting taking the piss out of footballers. Now managers would refuse to talk to the BBC players would be ready to sue at the drop of a hat or demand apologies. Why the show is still going is beyond me especially when it's supposed to be a fans phone in and there's divs like Savage and Ian Wright who don't have a clue what it's like to be a fan. After the 6-0 City game who would you prefer to talk to a fellow football fan or a contestant on Strictly.

Given this a thread of it's own.

Thought there are some very good insights into our club when he was a player in the 1960s, in this interview.

Can't believe that it's a year ago since Ray Wilkins sadly passed away - here's a few memories of his younger days at Chelsea.

 

Ray Wilkins was one of the best midfield players I have ever seen.

Had the privilege of watching him play for Rangers up here in Scotland for two years.

I haven't listened to him for years he does like the sound of his own voice although 606 was really good when he was doing it. Thought it was ironic when Radio 1 got rid of DLT to be replaced by Baker DLT had a bit of a meltdown on air. Then a few years ago Baker had a meltdown on GLR  when they got rid of him.

Ah what memories of FA Cup Final Day 1997.

Chelsea , finally winning their first major trophy since I started following them in 1974.

Chelsea were back and it was brilliant (that word brilliant I accept, is a massive under statement in even beginning to  describe it ).
