They were a real revelation when they arrived. Might be wrong, but think Adidas were pioneers with Dundee Utd being the first I can remember. Good shout re adidas kit. I also seem to remember Forest and Ipswich Town with that type of kit back then.

Chelsea 2-1 with youngsters Bobby Stewart and Damien Mathew putting in a shift I was in the East Stand Gareth Hall chopped Bould in half with the latest tackle I've ever seen. The ball had long gone and you could hear his yelp really clearly. Gareth Hall never got booked when it was clearly ABH Bould got taken off at half time definitely swung the game in our favour. Nigel Winterburn went to take a throw and this geezer shouted '' Oi Nigel why are you such an ugly bas tard'' he just shrugged his shoulders while everyone were pissing themselves it was as clear as Bould's yelp ?

Haaar. Was in the Shed once, quite low down. Every time the ball came to Bonetti this geyser said “ Pick it up Peter” - Peter picks it up. “ Bounce in Peter” - Peter bounces the ball” ” Kick it Peter” - Peter kicks it. Made me laugh anyway.

Edit: talking of keepers was down at Whitstable at the weekend. There’s a shop on the High St called the Flying Pig, which I believe was the nickname of Liverpool keeper Tommy Lawrence Edited March 22, 20197 yr by Ewell CFC
March 22, 20197 yr Just googled Tommy Lawrence. A BBC reporter was stopping elderly people in the street and asking them if they remembered the 67 5th Round FA Cup tie between Everton and Liverpool. He asked the Flying Pig. Tommy “ I remember it well. I was playing in goal for Liverpool”

Was at that game (shed middle) and it proved historic as Arsenal won the league that season and our victory that day was their only league defeat so they could have had two sides of "invincibles" (one has been bad enough to stomach!) Seem to recall I nearly didn't go to game as I should have been playing that Saurday but I did as I wanted to queue up after for tickets for our semi-final league cup game against Sheff Wed - which we lost ? I was there; I remember the Shed singing "one Bobby Charlton" and all the rest of it but whenever I think back to the game, my not exactly perfect memory insists on telling me the match ended in a 1-1 draw. So here, from 28th April 1973 is a picture of Ossie as the ball nestles in the back of the net after he scored the goal that turned out to be the winner in the 1-0 victory over Man U, Posted earlier. Worth another look. Ossie has scored for us. Great crowd scene as we celebrate it.
