nah looks right sure that is Gordon Davies with the tache and possibly Roy Wergele with the beard ?

It's def not mate, we didnt play Sheff Utd when Gordon Davis or Roy Wegerle played for us, in fact those two never played for us at the same time either.

We never played at Bramill Lane from 1976 up to 1991, thats why i'm sure it's Spackman playing for Bournemouth there.

It is. Horrible seeing them win the league at the Bridge. I think i was standing towards the West Stand that day. Here's another picture from the game.

Cheers Boyne, for confirming that was the game in May 86.

Where the ball boys are standing in this picture is now beneath the stand !

Oi you lot. Stick to the pavement. Nice and orderly now.....

Edit: My brother who was OB and a Chelsea fan did matchday duty for a bit. He loved it. A mate of mines Dad was also in the Met and got stationed at ours fairly regularly. He was a Newcastle fan. Remember him saying “ I generally throw out a few troublemakers then watch the game”

My younger brother I recall got slung out the South Bank West Ham when we played there sometime in the late 80s, he could only guess for celebrating too wildly after we scored.

I think he’s still peeved about that one to  this day.

Great photo.

Compare that to todays luxury dug out or 'technical area' as it's now called.

Indeed. Looks like Peter Houseman and a few others are sitting on a park bench.

Is that Bill Nicolson, the legendary Spuds managers standing talking to Dave Sexton ?

If so then ,this photo is I think from the 1972 1/72 League Cup Semi Final ?

One of my favourite pictures. What a great team.

Agreed mate.  I still think that mini bus is straight out of 'Porridge'.

I'm always half expecting to see 'Mr MacKay' and 'Fletch' in the background...

It does look like him. I think you're right about the game.

Talking of Porridge, I watched a couple of episodes last night. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched Porridge but one of those programmes that is still as good as when it was first broadcast.
