Very 81 looking that fella. Those cardigans and jumpers we called chunkys but I believe the technical term was waffle knit. Was still at school and used to go to games with a bottle green one with Lonsdale rip off Chelsea sweatshirt, pin badge, programme in back pocket ( either read before game if early- if late not enough elbow room in Whitewall- but always read or reread on District Line to Wimbledon...sometimes Bulldog...never into that stuff but it was a fashion accessory for a time- different world back then)

Exactly enough money in pockets- no one had wallets so you'd have a crumpled up fiver and maybe some coins which would get you junior admission to shed, programme and a rotten burger from Fulham Broadway vendor in a white coat- when did those traders cease operating round the ground BTW- early 90's?

Never once came with a single penny, and normally had to borrow 50p off someone to be paid back first break Monday morning.

Flight jackets very popular in 81 as well.

From memory a lot of them got in via Brompton Cemetery then across the train tracks

Surprised the only big numbers the had was 85/86 when going for the double, other than that they only filled a couple of pens. When you think about all the glory hunting kids/adults that supported (liked!) the dippers 70/80s the numbers at the bridge were poor.

Times I would go down park with my blue diamond trim Umbro shorts over my tracksuit bottoms and white socks pulled up to my knees just like Borota

Yep I always thought the same their away  support was poor considering who they were, Utd always better, mind you I thought Utd’s support a couple of weeks ago was the worse I had seen from them for years, normally very noisy they were quiet as mice

DIV 2 79-84 of the Northern teams I'd say Newcastle brought the most numbers, averaging maybe 2000. Don't think we played Leeds from 79 till 82, but thereafter they travelled well maybe 3000-4000 a pop, which was a bit less than we were taking up there IMO.

He had a couple of big mistakes for them before signing for Chelsea. One was throwing the ball into his goal!! The other was thinking the Ref had given a free kick, put the ball down and the opposition kicked it into the empty goal.

I’ve posted before, the funniest thing I saw Borota do live was at Orient. It was a night game, he came running out of goal started to dribble past a player. He got about 40yds from his goal and was nearly tackled, the ball went up in the air and he overhead kicked it clear!!

I was only 12 in 1980 but I think after the 4-0 win, there was a welcoming party on the way back to the coaches! They got done at Wandsworth Bridge. Remember the following year 6-0 the shed singing Wandsworth Bridge Wandsworth Bridge!!

I was shocked to find out there were seats in the back of the Stretford End. Did anyone ever have a proper go at taking it I wonder?

Remember some old hooligan years ago that end taking was mostly a London thing.
