Remember trip 84/85 usual disused station Manors. Does anyone remember going across concrete bridge that started to move with everyone marching at the same pace! I caught a Chelsea special and when it arrived the old bill said we had to wait for anther train to arrive. So the escort to the ground was impressive with the numbers. Remember after game stones and bottles coming over the gates as we were held at the back of the terrace. Always thought O B were anti southerner's up there.

West Ham Chelsea 1986

I think the pikeys ran across from the chicken run into the bottom corner that day but didn't last long. Half of the end made a beeline for them. Those first 2 seasons back our support was awesome.

I remember the game up at Newcastle when we were taken to some obscure station then having to cross the motorway on some unsafe

looking bridge that swayed with the weight.

We got marched through the town centre (Pint glasses being lobbed at us from both sides).

I think it was 1-1 Speedie getting the equaliser, Keegan must of played in that game.

It was great to be part of a rather large army that day, probably of been early 1984.

Wasn't that the 1985 game 1130 kick off, when the pikeys ran into the bottom corner, or maybe both years?  I'm sure the 1986 game was the night game when we won 2-1. I remember coming out after the night match and some west ham fella outside the queens market was standing there with a riot shield f**k knows how he got that! I agree Teabar both games our support was top drawer! I remember both years walking up to the tube after the game with the spammers across the road just watching, trying to look the part. Probably pissed off because we dressed better then them, lol!

Bit different in the 1971 game!. That was the one when a 'firm' from Stockwell (i think) had a go at their North bank. I remember watching it from the South Bank, and it was like in slow motion as you could see CFC tightly packed along the back moving in for a surge.

That was the first time i had the experience of seeing the Mile End  mob giving us mega grief in the South Bank throughout the game. Everyone rated them, but as they all appeared to be guys in their  20's against mainly 14-19 year olds (big difference), i always regarded them as bullies.

Ouch not for the faint hearted! I agree with the bully comment they also pride themselves on being out numbered but I've seen them on a couple of occasions singling out fella's on their own also I class them as a throwing firm, always happy to throw a pint glass from a distance! My personal experience of seeing them in action was not so much with Chelsea but at Liverpool street in the 80s they were normally plotting against someone.

Agree with that. In the old days when you could easily bunk the train fares, travelling to CFC from Leigh on Sea, we used to get off the train at Barking and jump on the tube and get off at West Brompton/ Parsons Green etc and give the ticket collector 10-20p,(i kid you not) and walk. Guaranteed that when the tube pulled in to Mile End, there were always 'geezers' patrolling the platform looking for fans of other clubs, and piling on to dish out a few quick right handers.

As for going to Upton Park, travelling on the line where the majority of their 'plastic cockneys' board, i.e Basildon, Laindon, Barking etc, was a nightmare!. Same if we went on the Liverpool St. line, Romford, Ilford, Stratford etc. Should have moved to SW London!!!!!!!

Yeah living in Essex springs up its own problems. I used to live in Hounslow but parents moved to Essex late 70s so all my teenage years I came into town from Colchester which wasn't to bad. Sometimes we had to brave the change at mile end if trains were stopping at Stratford. Can you remember the pub on Liverpool st, called the Apples and pears? I saw west ham have a proper struggle there against Peterboro and also the under 5's get booted off their manor by the spuds the funny thing there was because my mate and I were watching we both got thrown off the station thinking we were spurs fans, ouch! Worst trouble on the train home I saw was against Ipswich one day but all the London teams joined up (not spurs) and the train got held up in Chelmsford while we all had a stretch!

There were spuds in that small gang that tried...One was a well known spud from leyton who i was introduced to in a pub down there...He reckoned he could find out the name of the millwall fan that slashed me...It never came......Going back to the ones that came at chelsea. I admired the fellow that wanted to keep trying to get at chelsea by himself when the other west ham / spuds retreated..Chelsea were well up for the fight

Was that the 1130 ko game? Spurs and west ham together that's a surprise! Cant believe West ham would allow that. West ham were always very committed in my opinion and like I said to Limpet Liverpool st in the 80's was always dangerous around 530pm. I have more trouble trying to find my rail ticket these days!

The 86 west ham game was the 5-3 they came in that section from the back chucked a firecracker into us then they got f**king smashed I was surprised the mouthy c**ts in their seats by the corner didn't have a go but we did have a large firm in that section and they didn't fancy it.

I suppose generally you are right with the west ham n spud thing...it wasnt like spurs were spurs there..There were spurs within that west ham group..Some chelsea were with millwall at white hart lane when the park lane were decimated...Sure as hell didnt shout about that we were chelsea...I cant remember ifit was the1130 kick off one by the way...i dont think so though

I get the Chelsea Millwall link, geography not really playing each other much etc but Spuds and Spammers just surprises me due to most battles I saw at Liverpool St were between them two! I've just checked my old programmes and the 1130 KO was in 1985 and the game in question was the 5-3 defeat in late 1986. I think I'm right in saying we attacked the chicken run in 85 and sang lots of songs about ice cream firms, lol!

Thanks for that I was getting my games mixed up I thought it was the early KO in 85 or the night game in early 86. I found West ham away back in those days very useful to have eyes in the back of your head, these days they seem to just throw pint glasses at me!

West Ham 1 Chelsea 2 85/86 was a night game its on youtube Chelsea had a few on the right have a go at the chicken run but plod sorted it out.

West Ham 5 Chelsea 3 86/87 a 3pm ko also on youtube West Ham appeared in  what is the usual away corner. You see this on itn source if you type Chelsea hooligans. No West Ham came on the pitch or out the west side seats or chicken run all 3 games

I know its nearly 30 years ago but I was there and I can tell you it went off in that bottom corner of the south bank and West Ham got smashed. I cant remember which one of the 3 games though.

Cheers for that Simon I never made the 5-3 game so its must of been the night game in 86 were I remember the trouble in the ground. I remember the match day programme had an article in it called Liverpool v London. The top 4 clubs then were Chelsea,Liverpool, Everton and the pikeys! Where were we when we were sh*t, lol!

There were some weird 'mix and match' scenarios in the 70's. West ham  teamed up with Spuds at 3 point Lane a couple of times, when they played the Arse. In 1975 or 76 i went to a Spuds- Spammers midweek League Cup game (long story!). I think that was the first time Spuds had a mob against them for several years (according to my Spuds mates). Anyway Spammers were in the Shelf, Park Lane, and attempted a pincer movement at both sides of the Paxton end to take it. Spuds held their ground throughout on the side nearest the Shelf ( much to my surprise) and Tiny and his Millwall firm (that was the story that circulated afterwards) were across the other side and beat back every attempt the Spammers made to gain any ground.

In 1977 i went to the League Cup semi replay between QPR and Villa at Highbury. In the North Bank throughout the game, there were isolated chants literally from all the top London clubs!. Weird or what?

There was usually an unwritten truce on Cup Final day, when London clubs united  around Kings X and Euston, to have a pop at the Northern hordes if they were at Wembley.

Long time ago Teabar but I do agree, been having a think and I recall something going off during the early ko game as I recall throwing coins at the chicken run thought it might boost their transfer budget or something!!!!

I said 85/86 it went off in the corner but plod sorted it. Look on youtube when Chelsea get a corner where the chicken run meets the south bank you can see a mass of coppers that werent there eartlier. A mate of mine not at the game listened on radio and the words said was, in the corner it looks like the Chelsea fans are having a go at the West Ham fans.
