I remember them leaving the West Stand and then coming into both Shed entrances simultaneously, they got kicked straight back out of both though and nowhere near the middle.  That was September 1984, we won 3-0.

I'm sure a couple of our fans were stabbed in the West Stand that day?.

There were stabbings,  I remember a press report saying it was in the East Stand, must have been gate 13.  The report mentioned a pale faced youth who'd been stabbed.

Strange with all them Leeds the gate put at 33k that day. Was 34k in the shed the east and the west plus 4k leeds so deffo 38k ground held 44k at the time. Am i the only one thinking Chelsea let leeds off the hook that day. Should have been straight up to leeds on mass like boro in the playoffs

That Brighton pic...Is it the one where the cop on the pitch lost his helmet to a Blue?  if so my pals and i were behind that goal a third of the way down the terrace...Great day....SNOWY RIP...STEVE BALLARD...TONY SIGGINS....MARTIN and MYSELF

Totally agree mate ive said the same myself to older mates, their excuse of "we were only interesting in celebrating" doesnt wash with me, imagine if that was at Elland RD with that amount of Leeds in front of a Chelsea section it'd have gone right off, obviously i'm not digging out our older lot but f**k me thats v one of hated rivals ffs, that couldve gone like the Bham Leeds game did.

I remember a fella being stabbed outside the shed. When we were walking out the old bill had surrounded him, he was sitting down with claret all over his t-shirt. Story was the poor sod left early to avoid the fighting and bumped into our friends from Canning town coming in! Total mad day, it was one of those games were you spent half the game time watching the crowd!

I was on the pitch but up the shed end so I didn't see but didn't some of our lot go into their end after they started smashing the score board?

Nah didnt happen mate, there's loads of pics on here from that day, thin line of plod in front of 1,000s of Chelsea & bar Leeds attacking the scoreborad no ag at all during the invasion.

If that equates to 4000 Leeds then I'd estimate that we took 3 x that number to Elland Road, earlier in the season. Having attended both games I honestly thought theirs was a piss poor turn-out compared to our invasion 'op North! ... Personally, I think the gauntlet was well & truly thrown down at Leeds earlier in the season and they had no answer to our travelling numbers. I also think the unbelievable, fantasy, complete 'piss take' scoreline of 5-0! did the trick perfectly for most Chels on the day making those celebrations on the pitch, at the very end extra, extra special!

Thanks to all the Old Guard who keep this thread going with some blinding pictures and even better stories to go with them. Like ive said before i missed out of going to Chelsea prior to 1986 and while i still saw my fair share of crazy times i dont think anything ever has or ever will compare to the 80s before that time and some of the 70s aswell.

It was you boys " and girls " that made us something special and different to any other club in London. I honestly believe that for how useless we used to be our supporters were second to none and i think that shows by how many of the Originals are members of this forum, most other football clubs forums official or otherwise are based around a more younger group of supporters.

We aint got no history?? i think the supporters here put that lame rumour to bed years ago.

Keep posting the pics please people me and my kid love looking at them.

FOOTNOTE that 1984 kit best ever?? i think so

Anyone remember the League Cup semi final 2nd leg v Spuds at '3 points lane' in Jan 1972?. That was when many fans were wearing the white butchers coats, with various slogans written on them.

We were 3-2 up from the 1st leg, and filled the Paxton end. In those days they still stood in the Park Lane.

In the lower section of the Shelf, opposite the players tunnel, we had a decent mob next to one of theirs. When the teams came out, it went off big time for a few minutes.

We were 1-2 down and into the last minute or so, then we scored from a corner and everyone went ballistic!. Final score 2-2 and we were Wembley bound (wont talk about that day).

Outside after the game, it was like the 'wild west' for what seemed ages. To many rucks going on all over the place, to be able to focus on any one incident. Got split up from several mates, one who had the misfortune to bump into one of their main 'geezers' at the time, and his mates. he was a black feller named Sammy Skyves (?). This mate in question had a white butchers coat on, daubed with CFC etc on it, and copped a few 'right handers' and some Doc Marten imprints on his coat!

I've still got my ticket somewhere, and the admission price then was around 20p for standing!!!

Simon maskell is spot on re the 84 west ham game 3-0. They were in the west stand at 1.30pm and took the piss because no one was in there. It kicked off again in gate 13 but I can't remember the outcome of that tussle as I was in the shed. What I do remember clear as day is their finest coming into the shed 5 minutes before the end of the game via the bovril & whitewall and being destroyed long before the final whistle was blown. A few fellows on here agree it was the best firm they have witnessed at the bridge as do I. But it was dealt with emphatically and you will be hard pressed to find a west ham fan who remembers that particular game along with the 5-3 at their place because they were humiliated by their attempts to take us.

Exactly as I remember it.

I was also in the shed that day you needed eyes in the back of your head. Funny thing is I know work with a Spammer who came into the shed that day. Top fella to be honest he said half of Canning town turned out that day it was like their cup final!

Good call mate. I also agree about the 1984 kit I had both home and away and its not often I was happy to bowl around in a yellow shirt, even back in the day!

my mate Darren called me today to tell me he was reading a book..This book was aparantly written by chelsea fans and had sections included by Dixon and co.....The book is soley cover to cover about all the exploits of chelsea fans from all over the country and the players points of view ENTIRELY about Arsenal 84 at highbury..Sounds a good read

Mike do you know if its called "Chelsea here Chelsea there"? Haven't read it but was reading up on Amazon the other day and that sounded familiar.

Was roughly 4,000 cos the north terrace held 10,000 at the time and them 2 sections id say both held just over 2,000. The first section by the fenced off section was bigger as was the 4th section was a bit higher. Chelsea had about 7,000 8,000 at elland rd 83/84 and a few less 82/83 cos Chelsea had half the seats 82/83 not all of them like 83/84. Strange thing is Leeds were not huge at home either game with the gate recorded as 19k 82/83 and 20k 83/84 very poor. Chelsea got 25k 82/83 which was about right and 33k 83/84 which was a Bates fiddle. The shed east and west held 34k so with the 4k leeds fans how could the gate be 33k had to be 38k.

Yes, that's the book. Highly recommended, and dirt cheap if you want the Kindle version.

Distoner. Your mate at work and his friends from canning town were showing a clear pair of heels on that day in the shed.

For sure, good job he used to box so he can run a bit!

This was the game for certain. They came up the steps as I said near the T bar, what I clearly remember is seeing them leave via the top of the North Stand.

My thoughts at the time were that they were off to Fulham Broadway early, it was the first memory I had of anyone getting into the Shed.
