Dzeko to Chelsea...

Featured Replies

Rumours abound about Edin Dzeko to Chelsea and I'm not sure we have started our own rumour mill as yet, here we go, from Caughtoffside:

Quote:

Chelsea are reportedly looking into the possibility of signing Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in January.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker has admitted publicly that he is unhappy at his role on the bench at the Etihad Stadium, and feels that his goalscoring record is under-appreciated by Roberto Mancini.

“I was never a super sub before I came to City. I used to play always from the beginning and I scored a lot of goals not as a sub,†said Dzeko.

“In the last few games it’s a situation like this and I am just happy I am scoring goals. But I will never be a super sub. I want to play.â€

Perhaps Dzeko has a point. Without his goals, Man City would have ten less points than they currently hold, and crude calculation would leave them in the bottom half of the table rather than challenging for the top spots.

That goalscoring record is something that Chelsea’s current number nine will certainly envy.

Fernando Torres has scored four times in the Premier League this season, but often seems to drift out of games, and his lack of confidence since his £50m transfer from Liverpool has shown little sign of alleviating.

This is a move that could well be a wise one for Chelsea to consider but just how likely is it that Man City would sell a first team player to the West London side who are perhaps the biggest challengers to their Premier League crown?

Edin Dzeko is clearly unhappy about his current role in Roberto Mancini’s plans and even though the Bosnian international has netted five Premier League goals, despite starting just two games, the Italian still prefers to use Argentine pair Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez ahead of the former Wolfsburg man.

Though Fernando Torres has shown signs of improvement and perhaps even an ever growing confidence he lacked in the first 12 months of his Chelsea career, the Spaniard is still perhaps not the ideal man to be leading the line looking to make the most of the ammunition provided by creative midfield talents Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata.

Dzeko is an instinctive finisher who is ideally suited to life in the Premier League and whereas Fernando Torres was once a feared predator it seems an awful long time since he could be considered as such.

Edin Dzeko cost Man City £27m 18 months ago but has thus far made just 26 top tier starts but has still managed 21 goals in the process and there are definite signs that the forward is not happy in his current role and if there is no significant change in his circumstances by the time the transfer window re-opens in January, then perhaps the chance of an exit becomes all the more likely.

City I feel will not make the same mistake Arsenal made and sell an on form striker to a direct rival.

It just wont happen imo.

I'd also expect them to get rid of Mario before Dzeko since the latter get's more chances these days.

Never, ever going to happen. Top player and just what we need but forget it. We had our chance with Dzeko (and Aguero) but instead signed the £50 million super star striker.

City would also hold out for a stupid sum so it's a no all round.

It irks me we have missed out on some value for money signings like Sergio, RVP and even Suarez while spending fortunes on strikers who are not at their peaks.

Our next one has to be well thought out and not a Jan panic buy like Torres was which so far has been a damp squib.

Would be an instant yes but the likelihood of it happening is very small. Could picture him scoring goals for fun with Mazacar behind him.

Very good - Mazacar...

I have a crush on Mario and i would love to have him here, or Dzeko.

Would Mario score much more than Torres?

Is he a 30 goal a season striker?

In my honest opinion, yes he is. And just imagine, Mario Balotelli and David Luiz in the same team.

Don't think he has the mentality to play for Chelsea personally as he spends most his time banned or dropped for poor attitude.

He is a fine striker when he can be bothered (The Euros and United away last season) but I wouldn't be able to trust him in a Chelsea shirt.

Only my view though.

The amount of LAD there would be absolutely mindblowing.

If you ask me either Balotelli or Dzeko would be great signings if Falcao doesn't go through.

I'm watching this space as it seems highly likely that one of them is going to leave City very shortly.

I'd like to add something I've noticed about Manchester City players; I don't have any 'beef' with any of them, with the possible exception of Carlos Tevez.

Not sure if our guys have any problems with Dzeko or Balotelli, our meetings with City have usually gone pretty well, so a transfer involving either of those two shouldn't really have many problems.

Dzeko yes, that is if City would be willing to sell, but his fee will be massive.

Balotelli no,never, give over, yer aving a larf, aint yer?

In my honest opinion, yes he is. And just imagine, Mario Balotelli and David Luiz in the same team.

That would be awful. Balotelli is not world class and his attitude stinks, can't stand the guy. He's not misunderstood, he's just a spoilt child. 30 goals a season my ass.

I was certainly a fan of his, and wanted him here in the past, when he was at Wolfsburg, but I just don't know about him any more. He certainly has an eye for goal, but is he reliable enough to lead our front line. I was also a fan of Huntelaar, so read into this what you will
