In our current situation could Rafa have help from these players

Yeah there are one or two useful ones there but players are on loan either because the board want them off the wage bill ie Essien or need to play games like Josh or KDB.

Of course some could be useful to us but its more important that they stay settled where they are and get as much game time as they can. No point bring Josh back or Lukaku back for them to sit on the bench for us.

The ones who'd potentially be useful are better off on loan for a year playing consistent football, e.g. KDB, Chalobah and Lukaku.

Essien doesn't really gain anything from his loan and so we'd have probably been better off keeping him for squad cover, but I'd have rather sold him and kept Meireles.

Essien, Josh, Lukaku in my opinion should have been loaned out to the point of the start of the African Nations.

We undoubtably would have had more points on the board had they not even gone on loan in the first place in my book.

Lukaku would have got games before Ba's arrival given Benetiz's Assesment of Torres playing too many games and given the goals he has scored for WBA we would have benefitted for sure.

Josh could have stepped into Mata's shoes, games when he hasn't started we have dropped points.

Essien could have naturally played the defensive midfield role by himself thus releasing Ramires or Lampard into a more advanced role that suits their game.

Delac could have been a decent back up keeper too.

Essien would have made sense, from what I hear Piazon isn't even starting at Malaga so he may as well have stayed here to sit on the bench too.

Really we should have recalled a CM as soon as Romeu got put out for the season.

Over 20 players on loan in any case is a pathetic state of affairs.

I seriously doubt that any other club in Europe is in the same position or have spent so much money on talent only to cast them aside.

I think it would be more pathetic if we had those players rotting in our reserves.

How is it a pathetic state of affairs? The vast majority of those players have nothing to offer us right now. Pirez, Walker, Affane, Hutchinson, Hazard, Davila, etc...

The players who we have earmarked as playing an important role in our future have all enjoyed successful loan spells. Lukaku, de Bruyne, Chalobah and McEachran are all better off now than they were when we sent them out. You can quibble over a few decisions, but on the whole, it's ridiculous IMO to be decrying the state of affairs.

Indeed.

I made a point that we are the only club in Europe to have more than £80 million worth of talent on loan.

Thats IMO is just not good enough.

Hell we even have malouda playing keepy upies with the youth squad!

How do you arrive at that Â£80m figure? I sincerely hope you aren't considering Essien to be a Â£24m talent any more.

The majority of those players will never make it here, the ones we've actually spent money on haven't been cast aside, they're getting valuable experience so that when we need them they're actually ready as opposed to spending 2 years warming a bench.

I hear a lot of people talking about KDB and Lukaku coming back, but no mention of Hazard the 2nd? His team that has never finished higher than 5th in the Belgian league is coming 2nd and he has started nearly every game, and Eden said when we signed him that Thorgan was even better than him.

Anyone else fancy a Hazard-Hazard combo with Mata as the 3, with Oscar and KDB playing the 2 deeper roles?

Now there's a pretty picture.

Was on talksport last night, they done the calculations not myself however the point still stands.

We have to use a left back as a winger because we have left ourselves short of options yet again.

We use a left back as a winger because the interim is clueless. Sure, we're a bit short on depth at the moment, but even with Hazard suspended, we can easily field a front 3 without Bertrand.

Kakuta and Essien should never have been loaned in the first place, they both would have been good cover for us this season. The club got the rest right though, none of the others would be of any use to us in the reserves/barely making the bench.

we wouldve had more points had we kept lukaku and he was starting instead of torres

and de bruyne couldve definitely contributed. i know its easy to say this in hindsight, but its still true

Why not bring back Benayoun, Malouda and Essien? All decent players with lots of EPL experience and they're on our books anyway. They'd be of use even if just as extra bodies in the squad who can fill in for the better players now and again.

At the time Lukaku hadn't shown anything near the form he has at West Brom, not to mention we still had Danny.

I wanted us to keep KDB cause he was good enough to get into the team but I'm glad we didn't now, he's playing well in a role we lack players in and will hopefully come in next season. Had he stayed he would probably have been played on the wing and been given 10 min apps here and there.

Out of those listed, the obvious candidates to get some first team action are Lukaku, McEachran & Chalobah. Those three (and Piazon) would all be handy to have available right now - to the club they actually belond to. I can understand the argument that they are doing well on loan and at least getting match action but all could have got match action with US. At some point we have to stop all this loaning players out and actually give them a f**king game. Who is to say next season any of them will still get a chance OR the season after? As much as it may well look like we are helping with their development, to date we can see that really hasn't been the case. I'd call it more of a cop-out. We just don't have the balls to risk youngsters and would rather have the reliable good old Paulo Ferreira on the bench than a Chalobah or Josh.

IF we get past Brentford and face Boro in the next round of the cup I won't hold my breath in seeing him play for Boro. No doubt we won't let him play, just in case he makes completes mugs of us and helps them knock us out the cup.

Apparently the board has told Benitez to forget about new signings and use fringe players e.g. Benayoun, Malouda.

So, i'm reading between the lines here...

the board have NO confidence in the FSW at all...hence no money to strengthen...

Hence...he IS going at the end of the season NO MATTER WHAT!!! :JC_doubleup:

WV2 happy!!!!

:good2:
