Redknapp again

Chelsea dropped more points last night at the Madejski, losing more ground on league leaders Manchester United.

Chelsea let a two goal lead slip for the second time this month to draw 2-2 away to Reading.

They did the same at home to Southampton a fortnight ago, and recorded the same scoreline against League One side Brentford in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Offering his opinion on Chelsea's situation on Sky this morning, pundit Jamie Redknapp has been unequivocal in where it all went wrong.

"Chelsea were four points behind United when they sacked Di Matteo, look at where they've drifted out to now, it was a massive mistake."

Chelsea now sit 13 points behind Manchester United, and lie in third, just four points above third placed Spurs who also dropped points last night.

Redknapp added: "I just find it mystifying what's happened there...if you look at them now they are in danger of not finishing in the top four."

Do you expect Rafa Benitez to be there next season? "No I don't. I can only see it going one way for Benitez.

"The only one I can see going back is Mourinho."

It's hard to disagree with Redknapp's comments - Chelsea are sitting precariously in third at the moment, and the title is completely out of their reach.

They must negotiate the final few months of the season with a chasing pack on their heels and show real character, something they are not doing at present.

Whether they finish top four or not, Benitez' time at the club will surely be over come May.

Stunning insight from Jaymee "top top" Redknapp, considering Benitez was named interim manager until May...

Next up, Redknapp explains that the Sun is expected to set in the West this evening...

I said to non-Chelsea and Chelsea fans even when we were 4 points off top that once Benitez came in we were in serious danger of not making top 4. People laughed and sniggered and said I was "overreacting" and "he isn't that bad, he won the Champions League with Liverpool". He's an absolute fraud of a manager as has been proved in his previous 3 jobs.

Personally I have a lot of time for Jamie as a person and as a pundit.

He is spot on.

I hate to say it but I feel Liverpool and Spurs under ex Chelsea coaches are building better squads than ourselves.

A season that started with so much promise and optimism has turned into a nightmare.

Roman and the board are to blame as well as management who control loan deals.

So short with the African Nations and not realised in the summer when negotiating loan deals - absolute madness.

I want Roman out and the board - I want my Chelsea back - I want an owner with a long term plan and one prepared to let the Manager manage and give youth a real chance.

That manager is Jose Mourinho, the owner well that is for the gods to decide.
